>hunger is the best sauce.
Never give them candy, soda, and inbetween meal snacks. Never.
Picky kids need to be actually hungry. Guaranteed a picky kid has had access to apetite killing calories between meals and lack of exercise.
Their boring mothers didn't give them quality toddler food, or shared what mommy was eating in tinier bites. They've have zero food culture that wasn't the same old thing.
In elementary, they ate school food, not amazing mom-packed lunches. They didn't dine out much, just fast food and delivery, not buffets at the wedding, sunday brunch, no no no, just the Golden Corral where they were allowed to eat 1 chicken leg, a handful of nuts from the salad bar, and then race to the ice cream machine.

Eh, that's normal. I couldn't stand raw onion as a kid either. If even a single sliver touched anything on my food I'd have to amputate it, especially those nasty little rehydrated onions on mcdonalds burgers.

Yes I'm aware of that. You have to be pretty low functioning autistic of you're refusing to eat more than a few things. My nephew is seven, barely talks, will literally throw up if you put a plate of anything besides McGoyim Feed in front of him, but he can already read in like five different languages. I thought he was just parroting youtube vids, but I have a few books with Greek alphabet in some sections. I asked him what the words in Greek are and he reads them every time, but he still won't communicate in full sentences in english.
Basically what I'm saying is that if you're here, you aren't THAT autistic.

I am Autistic, when it comes to food I've always eaten anything except seafood, and tomatoes. I hate eating food that tastes low quality, I hate sharing food and if even a family member takes a piece of food off of my plate I won't eat it. If they use my plate, I won't eat in it until it has been washed. If they use my things like gloves or hats, I will not wear them.

So yes, no change will occur, not even with yellowing, beatings or starvation. Good luck.

I'm not autistic (or I missed it) but from autistic friends it could be about shape, texture, or color
I know a dude who would only eat yellow food, so once you know this you just search for everything yellow and you build around it.

So, what does she like ? small nuggets ? kfc type tender ? Maybe try to find things that look the same, but without chicken in it. Fish, cheese, maybe vegetables. Potatoes maybe ?

You will probably be able to find what she likes about it and then you can try similar things. With time, maybe drift further and further. Maybe it will take years. I used to hate a lot of vegetables, never got beaten for it, but I just got the taste of it as I grew older. It's like beer and wine, sometimes it comes with time. Cooking yourself can help too. Maybe you could cook with her

My bet would be that a nice crunchy thing with a single homogenous taste in it, without weird changes of texture like onions or shit, just crunchy outside, tender chicken inside, no gap bewteen or anything. It kinda make sense

If the parents are also autists tho, they should give them books and articles on the benefits of eating certain foods, that is if the sources are legit. They'll probably even become the chef of the household. A pleb house mom wouldn't allow that tho since she will feel more useless

my gf basically has the palette of an autistic child. picks tomatoes and spinach out of shit, as if those were even close to the worst produce. How do I fix this in a grown ass woman that can just go and buy her own food? I want to cook for her but its impossible because she either wont tell me she doesnt like something and finishes it for my sake or gives me some dumb excuse why she couldnt finish it instead of telling me what about a dish she didnt like.

shit is actually kindof making me want to break up after 6 years of being with her. I just cant imagine marrying someone that I have to cook for like I'd cook for a retarded kid. She wont eat anything thats not just stupid unhealthy, cream sauces and cheese and fried meat and shit.

This.

Diagnosed sperg, I hated eating in general. What worked for me growing up was milk, peanut butter sandwiches, Eggo waffles, scrambled eggs, Kraft mac and cheese, Campbells soups, bananas, plain buttered spaghetti, plain white rice, and plain chicken, plain steak, plain plain plain meats. Eventually I could eat some potatoes and canned vegetables, particularly green beans. Then I could do iceberg lettuce on my plain meat and cheese tacos, an important step. After that it was seafood, spinach, mushrooms, right around 5th or 6th grade. Then I could do asparagus, then broccoli, then cabbage, and so on.

Now that I'm almost 30 I can tolerate a large majority of different flavors and textures, and even enjoy some. I will always want the foods I enjoyed as a kid over the most delicious dish I've prepared, but I have taken it upon myself to provide adequate nutrition and can govern my own taste and texture issues now as an independent.

With an autistic kid the goal should be to link food with positive experiences. My parents didn't pull that "you don't get spaghetti for the 10th night in a row, eat this broccoli now" shit bc they realized I preferred starving myself to eating even my favorite foods. Instead, they let me eat what I liked so I got into the routine habit of eating and wanting to eat. The desire to eat opened the door to trying foods on my own terms, rarely at first, because I knew food could be enjoyable and things that smelled good could also be good.

Fuck tomatoes though, I will never be able to tolerate them, even now. Instant dish ruiner.

tl;dr an autistic kid that likes to eat some things is better than an autistic kid that hates eating, do not build a habit to dread meals or the autism will reject food forever
