I’m not going to say which is better because i personally love both, but Japanese cuisine has pickled side dishes too, usually soaked in the same kind of rice vinegar. I love Korean food, but it gets boring eating it every day. Japanese food has a lot more variety. So cuisine-wise, I think Japan wins.
However, when it comes to dining experiences, I think Korea is superior to Japan. Korea offers a lot of side dishes with their meals, they give actual space for you to eat (I really hate cramped Japanese restaurants where you're elbow to elbow with other customers), and the prices are generally better. Hell, Korean restaurants will give you side dishes for free as a basic service whereas Japan charges you like five bucks for a small plate of "kimuchi." Bit ridiculous. I also think Korea, unlike Japan, has really embraced foods from other countries within the last decade. I'm talking outside of Seoul. Even in rural supermarkets, you can find shit like tortillas nowadays. So the whole thing about getting bored of Korean cuisine is a moot issue when you're talking about eating because you can eat non-Korean food in Korea. I also think Korea does a better job with foreign foods than Japan. A good example is pastries: Japan doesn't put salt in their pastries, so it all comes out tasting really shitty. Korea actually does bake pastries correctly. So for dining experiences, I'd go with Korea over Japan. But for pure cuisine, Japan over Korea.

No, I've been in China for a short period of time and you do not want to go. I'm not going to elaborate, just don't go.

All the other Asian countries I've been to were Southeast Asian (Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand) and they're... okay. Expect a lower standard of living, but your money goes a long way there. If I were a prole and could only pick one, I'd go with Vietnam. I wouldn't live in any of them though.

Some highlights:

A lot of this doesn’t ring true.
1. Korea is easier to get around because taxis are dirt cheap and available everywhere.
2. You can pick up a few phrases in any language. Korean is harder to speak for an English speaker than Japanese because Korean has a ton of sounds that don’t exist in English. Japanese doesn’t have as many. Korean is easier to read and write, though.
3. It’s easy as fuck to get laid in Japan. Lot of Japanese women want to fuck a white guy and will given the chance (and then brag about it privately to friends).
4. Korea is no weirder than Japan when it comes to its social conventions. If anything, Korea is far less formal and far more relaxed.
5. Both countries are nationalistic and xenophobic as fuck, and at best treat foreigners as interesting spectacles.

Just finished living in Korea. The food was amazing and the people who say it is just gochujang do not know what they are talking about (although there is plenty of food that uses that).

Additionally, Korean variations of other countries cuisine are really tasty. Their fried chicken, chinese food, and italian food are all delicious.
