Hold on are you supposed to cook this kind of stuff?
I had a chicken based one last week and just put it on a sandwich as it is

>> No.15550809

It's already cooked. I put it on a fry pan to get that crispy texture though.

You can if you want, but it's precooked. Perfectly safe to eat straight out of the can.

>> No.15550829

>>15550793
You can. Spam is just pork shoulder and jaw meat, mixed with spices, various flavorings, like liquid smoke, lots of salt and potato starch binder. Then it's pressed into a can, sealed and the can is steam baked til it's cooked and bacteria free.

Anything you can do with a regular ham, you can likely also do with a block of spam, except make soup from the bones.

If there are bones in your can of spam, you can always profit by filing a heinous lawsuit.

>spam actually isn’t an American delicacy
Why not? Salt cured sturgeon roe in a can is considered a delicacy. Fatty duck liver pate in a can is considered a delicacy. Why can't a beloved salty ham loaf in a can be considered a "delicacy"? Do you even know what the word "delicacy" means? I bet you also think that foie gras and caviar are meme foods, despite being the literal definition of "delicacies".

>> No.15551689

>>15551667
it's not an american delicacy as in we don't eat it. spam was mostly shipped out to poor asian countries for humanitarian relief during world war two. I'm american and i've only eaten it once when a vietnamese chick made me spam fried rice

Except delicacy is for choice foods . spam is just pork by products stuffed into a can with a shotgun of salt. Americans don't consider it anything but a joke and definitely don't treat it as sought after or really even standard on the menu.

Today, South Korea produces and consumes more Spam than any other country except the United States.

Yes we do.
It is eaten in the continental 48.
Not by everyone, just like lots of people don't eat sardines, caviar, duck confit, or potato chips.

Spam has a place, and that place is breakfast.

>> No.15556084

Slice thin (around 1/4"), pan fry on medium heat like bacon.
Like bacon, it will render fat. No need to oil the pan first.
Goal is crispy outside, tender center.

Great with toast and a few eggs.
Drink water; it's salty.

Hawaii is an Asian kingdom that we annexed to appease commercial interests and use as a military outpost.
Would have annexed Guam too, if there was anything commercially worthwhile.

Texas is only America because it's been allowed to acclimate for so long.
Most of "America" is between 35n-43n, and from Kansas City to the Atlantic Ocean.
Outside of that, it's less and less like the "America" one thinks of.

The fact that the Spam factory is outside the core region should oughta tell you a thing.
