Is this shit supposed to be fucking bitter as fuck? I followed the directions the the T and there ended up being far too much leftover water, so I had to dump some out (along with the seasoning which it says to put in with the water and rice at the start) and then my rice had no flavor. Then I tried it again (with half the water), but added the powder at the end after the rice had absorbed the water (which it actually did this time) and although the seasoning left an extremely powerful odor it had fucking flavor this time.

It's the seasoning they add in the packaging, retard. It's a powdering substance. Like the stuff they put inside Kraft D. It's kinda gross actually. Smells odd.

Parboiled rice was once upon a time popular for people adding it to one-pot meal recipes. I think it holds together like firm intact grains before going into mush as one benefit, but also the exuding starch doesn't thicken the recipe too much.
Dumbasses who can't cook rice liked to place a hole punched plastic bag into a boiling pot of water and dunk it like a tea bag until done, and since parboiled already, it is slightly faster. Is it better? Oh hell no. It's good for stupid people though.
When people realized parboiled rice is just for stupid people, they came out with a bunch of flavors, but it's still weird parboiled rice and it might have the flavor of cardboard if it's brown rice. Box flavors.
When Prudhomme and the height of new orleans cookery was a thing, it became known to be linked to local creole recipes as the choice of locals, but the fact was that only stupid people used it, and locals preferred popcorn rice, konriko and camellia brands, or even market basket, actually.

What flavored box did you buy, and why would you not mention that fact originally?

It's the seasoning that comes in the package. It's a little white packet. I bought the one where it's plain rice and the seasoning you have to add yourself, not the pre-made ones that you just heat and serve.

It was creamyy mushroom flavor. It was actually okay, bought only the second time when I added it to the already-cooked rice. It at least looked like the package when it was done.
