What to eat while suffering from food poisoning? I think I got food poisoning the other day from some ground beef. I woke up this morning, felt kind of shitty with a headache and then when I tried to drink water (wasn't hungry at all) I fairly immediately threw up the water. I guess my stomach was already empty because it was just the water and stomach bile... This has happened 3-4 times today where I drank some water and threw it up again.

I don't want to go to the doctor unless I keep throwing up water all throughout tomorrow. Pretty sure it's food poisoning of some kind... Have never vomited that easily. But I'm feeling better at the moment than earlier.

Any food recs? Am I going to die? Already have some chicken noodle soup and plenty of electrolyte-rich waters and sugar free Gatorades to try and sip on.

yeah, all you're going to want for the next couple days is water and maybe some warmed up broth. maybe try some crackers but you'll likely just vomit those up as well
don't worry, brother, you'll get over it as long as you don't die of dehydration

Oatmeal. Basically any simple carbohydrate that your body can deal with right now, but oatmeal provides the best nutritional balance that you can reasonably keep down while being food poisoned outside of chicken noodle soup. Drink plenty of water too so that you don't get dehydrated. God speed anon, food poisoning is fucking shit.

Assume you've had food poisoning before.. I can't recall ever having had it and I'm in my late twenties.. Pretty freaky quickly throwing up water but thanks for the reassurance.

Also I saw that you couldn't keep down water right now, it's fucking awful but try and keep at least one glass down. Seriously it's a pain in the ass right now but you need to keep hydrated though some means.

There's actually more evidence to show not eating anything in the early stages is more effective than any diet. Get plenty of fluids is the most important. If you do use any oral rehydration solution, make sure it's not too high in sugar. They also often have small amounts of vitamins to help you stay nourished. Eat what everyone else suggested. Nothing inflammatory or greasy, and make sure you get a bit of soluble fiber (bananas, oatmeal, whole wheat bread) once you feel well enough to eat.

Sipping seems to work now... I'm drinking a glass but really slowly over the course of a couple hours while munching on a few wheat thins.. That seems to be working, but I don't want to risk drinking too quickly.

Thanks I'm going back to the store tomorrow and getting bananas and oatmeal. But you're probably right if I'm not hungry then I won't push myself to eat.

med fag here. its important that you replenish electrolytes but do so slowly. Get Pedialyte popsicles instead of a jug of the shit. Do you have a fever and have you had diarrhea as well as vomiting?

That's scary... Scariest story I have is nearly ending up paralyzed from the waist down from falling 25 feet and breaking a vertebrae, but later making a full recovery.

I'm not on any drugs except occasionally taking kratom for a mood boost.. But I hadn't taken any in like a week.

Rule number one of food poisoning: don't fight your urge to throw up. Your body is expelling bad shit and if you don't let it, you're just going to keep feeling bad.

My personal go-to is chicken broth with plenty of onion powder but just make sure you stay hydrated, and if you feel like you need to throw up, just go to the bathroom, do it, and then drink water. If it doesn't stay down, drink slower or give yourself a few minutes and try again.

Gatorade is useful while recovering. It's hard being hungry but too nauseous to eat, but liquid calories are easier to keep down. Stay hydrated, eat whenever you can, and remember it'll be over eventually.

you said sugar free gatorade but this is a case where you want sugar, not just the calories but it can actually settle your stomach, one of the things doctors will prescribe for nausea is basically just sugar water
