Me and the missus have been wanting to try some new ethnic cuisine, so we settled on Gerperson.

What are some good, but not too complicated Gerperson dishes we can make? Other than pretzels and sauerkraut.

A good franzbroetchen is better than a crossiant tho. Sadly even in Hamburg the quality varies greatly. Some are too dry some are too hard some have too much caramellized sugar which makes it like a hard sticky unpleasant experience. But some are just perfect soft, moist and perfect amount of butter cinnamon and sugar. It depends on the bakery moslty

Blaukrautfag reporting back.
If we wanted to be precise about the colour we would call it lilakraut I guess. Then again, where I am from, we also call carrots "gelbe Rüben" as in yellow. Maybe medieval german peasants really did not give a fuck about specific colours.

Also, you can make your blaukraut more red while cooking it by adding vinegar. Or dye it blue with soap. Would not recommend the latter though.

>> No.15531307

>>15531205
Apparently it is usually blue from the soil it grew in (pH). To make it bluer in a palatable fashion you could use a little sodium carbonate. "gelbe Rüben" could date back to a time before carrots were selectively bred to be orange (it's not their natural color).
