Is it tacky and looked down upon to bring your own condiments into a restaurant if they dont have it? Local place around me only has A1 no HP or other steak sauces so I bring my own.

Just put it on the table and if anyone brings it up just tell them A1 sucks. Grow some balls man.

Depends on the place.
Some really swanky places with snooty chefs will definitely be upset, but they usually have the condiments on hand or make a quite good one in house.

In some places, it is absolutely OK to bring your own family's maple syrup or private stock of balsamic vinegar.
I can usually bring in my preferred hot sauce or steak sauce if I know they don't have it.
If they're pissy about it, there may be a corkage fee, but that's unlikely.

It's going to be exceptionally rude to bring your own soy sauce to a sushi place; don't do that.

Normally applied to booze, but many places (I feel like more on the East Coast) allow you to bring your own wine or other alcohol, but still charge you a fee for consuming it in their business.

My guess is no one gives a shit, I have kids and we lug around all kinds of stuff in bags and on strollers, including food and drinks. As long as you’re paying for a meal and not bothering anyone I don’t think any waitstaff is gonna care what you have with you

I WILL go eat somewhere else if I see a sign like this.

This doesn't go nearly far enough, I like to bring my own silverware, napkins, glasses, finger-bowls and so-on to set my place properly. I've been asked to leave six local McDonalds', two K.F.C.s and a Pizza Hut.

What kind of dumbass are you? Either eat out or at home. It's just too much effort to cook something at home, package it up, drive to a restaurant, sit down, wait for your food to arrive, pull out the food you made, then eat them both.

I bet you drink the water from the sink behind the counter you have to pay for instead of the free water from the bathroom sink too. Pathetic.

I live in an area in the US where "fry sauce" is a common condiment and people have generally very bland, unrefined, white-people palettes. I refuse to eat at national chain restaurants here, both because they're a chain and they don't carry or serve fry sauce which is local custom. I would never bring my own condiments to a restaurant because it would mean that the restaurant was shit to begin with for me to have to know in advance to plan on bringing my own condiments.

There's a bar near me that makes their own ketchup. I'll admit they probably have more clove than is needed, but it still tastes fine and if anything is a good changeup from always having Heinz/Hunt's ketchup. My mom however detests it and brings her own bottle of ketchup.
