I love stout so much. I love watching the nitrogenated bubbles form and settle slowly in the glass. I love the thick white head and how it contrasts with the ruby black body of the pint. I love taking that first big swig and breaking through the creamy head to taste the sweet stout on the front of the tongue, leading into the roasted malt flavour that clings to the side of the mouth before reaching the bitter aftertaste that coats the back of the tongue and the oesophagus. I love the notes of coffee and chocolate in every mouthful. I love the frothy cream that awaits me at the end of every pint as the delicious roasted malts dissapear.

I love stout.

Hello! Craft beer drinker here. You seem to have confused Irish-style dry nitro stouts with stouts in general. That's ok, I'm here to help! Beer is in confusing and there is an awful lot to remember. There are, in fact, a great many types of stout out there. From the style's humble beginnings as a London Porter, to the rich, roasty indulgence of Russian Imperial stouts; there are Belgian stouts, milk stouts, export stouts, pastry stouts, barrel-aged stouts, mixed-fermentation stouts, hoppy stouts, - although some would classify these as black IPAs! - and so much more to boot.
Hopefully my little primer has inspired you to broaden your horizons in a wonderful and varied world of craft beer. Cheers friend!

What's with the hate for craft beers? How is craft beer any different than going to a local restaurant instead of a corporate chain? Am I supposed to drink brand name beers you find in fucking gas stations or something?
