I ate crickets and honestly they had no real taste off their own. They were very crispy though. Can Insects actually be tasty?

Romans used to eat locusts glazed with honey at the coliseum along with the stuffed mice and other odd things so something like this doesn't sound too bad.

I could imagine that as a snack like chips or something. Honestly I think bug snacks dont sound so bad.

Crickets are easily the least flavourful insect. Even ants have more flavour (not a good flavour though).
Supposedly the giant water bug is the pinnacle of entomophagy but it scares the shit out of me so I haven't tried it.

>>15482110
Same when I tried them but they had no taste and I wasn't keen on the texture.

I've heard larvae have a fatty, nutty flavor, and that makes a lot of sense

Ate a lot of different insects and its alll hot garbage. Thats why people tend to fry it, at which point you don't taste it at all.

Trips confirm this.
Larvae sound the most disgusting but are pretty nice. A lot of asian cousine uses insects.

I've had mealworms processed into nuggets a few times and a cricket+cheese pancake once and I enjoyed them. Kind of a nutty/fishy flavour like the other anon said.
>>15482528
Shut up, tastelet. Go be picky somewhere else.

Depends on how you season them, grasshoppers seasoned properly are pretty good for example. They're more or less peasant food universally, but guess what we all are bucko.

Where comes this mindset from? Do you eat lobster? Or squid? Dont they seem gross too?

>> No.15482904

>>15482858
No, because they are gross. I eat good, honest American COWS and CHICKENS, and none of the trash offal. The good cuts of meat. Don't @ me about sheep and goats. I am a Christian and do not stoop to inferior animals.
