Greetings, fellow searchers of sloppa. Tonight we will be making a bit of a more refined sloppa. Don't worry, nothing snooty.

Into the pot we will add butter, chopped onion, and chopped sweet Italian sausages I roasted in the oven.

Then we will add liquid. I used some beef broth and a half carton of leftover turkey stock from Thanksgiving that was waiting for this very moment in the back of my refrigerator. "But," you may ask, "isn't that from over two months ago?" Indeed it is, but like 95% of things in life it can be conquered with the smell test.

Next we will want a tangy bite and some tomato-y richness. Add premium ketchup to taste.

We've added salt, pepper, granulated garlic, Italian seasoning. Those are all wonderful, and certainly a nice assortment, but we are looking for more savory flavor to add to our accoutrement. MSG will keep them coming back for more.

Next we will want something to complete the flavor profile. Considering the pedigree of the ingredients in our sloppa so far, only one thing will fit the bill. Land o Lakes Yellow American cheese, cut fresh by the friendly lady at the Walmart deli.

Shitass pic, and clearly no points for presentation. But it's tonight's dinner. Browned a kielbasa in an enamel dutch oven using clarified bacon grease, remove, sauteed onions over the fond with a bit more fat, mixed in bagged tricolor slaw while reintroducing sausage, sauteed just for a lil longer, then poured over a jar of sauerkraut, pint of water, bring to boil to reduce, covered the pot and simmered 25 mins. Packed into pyrex for future meals, this is one. Sometimes I like to throw a few chunks of muenster on top before serving, lightly melting in the residual heat. Na zdrowie.
