I like WT101, Woodford, and Knob Creek. For pure smooth Gentleman Jack, but it's pretty mellowed out flavor wise. Crown Royal is also a fairly smooth all arounder

I used to love Jack.
No.7 is solid. Gentleman is great. Single barrel is okay, but more of an ‘exploratory’ experience. Barrel-Proof is absolutely fucking sublime.
To top it all off, the special 150th Anniversary batches were indescribable(pic related). The taste completely changed my perception of what a “Tennessee Whiskey” could be. Even the old-timers at the distillery said “it smells like the whiskey we made decades ago” when it was going through the process.

But I don’t touch the shit now, because my cunt of an ex-wife works at the distillery. I stick to Jim Beam now because her replacement is Japanese, and so is Beam (technically) since it was bought by Suntory.

Tennessee and bourbon pretty much the same. Tennessee whiskey is just filtered with charcoal before aging because Tennessee has to be special. Corn whiskey could mean straight corn mashbill, bourbon has to be least 51% corn but mixed with other grains.

Another group like to be on patrol ready to tell you just how many grams of sugar a certain rum has. God forbid you enjoy spiced rum or rum which happens to have sugar because you'll be outcast.

Another sect is waiting to tell you just how wrong you are about rum from a certain country. If you don't know all the styles from all the countries, you aren't welcome.

Amongst all of that, there is just very rarely decent discussions about what rum is good, tasting notes etc.

The best scotch I have ever had. Its like somebody refined the hellfire and brimstone of the underworld and refined it into liquid gold. So much fucking flavor but you can only get it in scotland unless you know a special retailer who happens to have it.

I know its popular, but it's $30/750ml in ABC Land. I can get WT101, Elijah Craig Small Batch, or pay $40 for Woodford or Knob Creek. It's actually better to buy rare whiskey in my state since the state sets all the prices. Wellers is like $40 and 10 minutes away it's $90 in a free state.
I'll contend OGD BiB is a good cheap bourbon, but I personally do not like it.

KY fag here. Old forester is a great choice, but I’m stricken with sadness by the lack of Evan Williams. EW black label is dirt cheap but very drinkable, you won’t find a bourbon of equivalent quality for the price. Or if you want something a little nicer go for a bottle of EW single barrel. It’s not the absolute best bourbon ever, but it again comes to the price. What Evan Williams sells you for ~$35 most brands are selling for $45-$60. So yeah, give it a try and whatever you do just don’t fucking buy makers mark, or wild turkey for that matter.

Was it used for cooking or as a medical thing and then as an after dessert or before dinner thing etc; theres no info on what scotch was actually made for. Old Grand-Dad 114 if you just got plain OGD or OGD Bonded.
Other than that, straight rye whiskey. Knob Creek Rye is a decent, widely available, affordable entry point to rye whiskey. It seems to have about 50% rye in the mashbill so it sits nicely in-between high-rye bourbons and like, 95% rye rye whiskies, it's aged a long time and it's a nice proof at 100 proof.

Yes because I care more about the flavor then the effects of the ethanol.
I enjoy plenty of non alcoholic beers despite liking plenty of various styles of beer from 0.4% to close to 20% ABV. I'd try more non-alcoholic whisky if it had flavor close to actual whisky, but it doesn't because it then usually tastes like oak flavored water.

To be honest my only experience with Evan Williams black label is taking a few swigs at a buddy's house years ago and finding it pretty vile. Maybe I was too trashed and my taste buds were off. I've bought the single barrel a couple of times and I think it's okay. The problem is I can get OF100 for $20 bucks and it beats the fuck out of most bottles in that price range. The quality drop-off tends to be huge for anything that's cheaper. Case in point, I got memed into buying Mellow Corn. The problem is that corn isn't very complex. Try a bourbon with a lot of rye in it though, and you get some great whiskey.
I do wish, though, that American producers would start experimenting more, with things equivalent to scotch. The beauty of American alcohol is that they aren't bound to the same 300 year old rules of brewing/distilling that other countries are, but the mainstream producers don't take full advantage of that fact.

Very good, the bartender compared it to Weller SR which put me off it because I don't like the regular green label, but it was very smooth, subtly sweet, bit of orange peel and cinnamon/brown sugar, none of the cherry taste that I get from a lot of bourbons which I'll chalk up to it being wheated. My gold standard is Four Roses Single, and it was slightly better, but not 15x better like the price and rarity would suggest, so I won't ever waste my time and money trying to snag a full bottle for myself.

Nope.
I'm nowhere near an alcoholic just drinking once weekly/biweekly, but I won't pretend I don't drink it to get a little buzz first and foremost. Usually go for Old Forester 100 or Buffalo Trace when available. They're inexpensive, taste nice, and leave a nice buzz.
If it's for taste only, I would go for beers. Also like wine and sake so I'd definitely go for others before whiskey if I couldn't get drunk.
