They’re useless, but you can expect the plebs on this board to be up in arms that I dare criticise their precious meme cooker.

They’re only good if you’re an absolute tastelet with zero cooking ability, who just wants to throw shit into a pot and come back hours later to eat the slop it has produced.

If you actually know how to cook though and care about quality, you’d stick to traditional methods, like cooking on the stovetop or in the oven. The meme cooker simply doesn’t produce enough overall heat to cook food properly, it doesn’t reduce liquid fast enough and it’s incapable of browning or caramlising food, thus no maillard reaction takes place, and you’re left with stringy meat in bland watery soup.

Maillard reaction only happens in the first few minutes of cooking food in a dutch oven anyway. Then you add the liquid. For a slow cooker you do that part in a frying pan. Then you set it to go and head out for the day. It will tend up to end up a bit mushier, which autistic people may be sensitive to. NTs will enjoy both modes of cooking and appreciate either one in different ways.

Because they usually come out much better when you cook them on the stovetop or in a dutch oven. Don't get me wrong, they're useful for people who don't have the time or passion to spend on cooking, but if you actually care about making the best tasting meal that you can then you should be using an oven or stove in most cases.
