The curries aren't a bad call, especially as a barometer of the place's overall quality as was mentioned. Pad Thai will be a bit different basically anywhere you go, I've had good ones, great ones and meh ones but never terrible ones. I never cared for satay sticks at any USA Thai restaurant, they don't compare to Pattaya street vendors. Someone mentioned drunken noodles (pad kee mao) but that will have lots of white onion, not personally my thing.

Also if you're falang and ask for the most spicy they won't take you seriously and make it rather bland. Ask for mid level spicy and it should be decent and you can always add more chili sauce if needed.
