I live in a pet-friendly high rise apartment. In the last year, I’ve only seen one other cat here because it happened to be sitting in a window. But everyone in my building (mostly millennial couples and single women) has dogs. So many damn dogs the apartment built a private dog park as an amenity.

My cats hate clapping, so when they were young, any time they leaped up on the counter I would clap in their face, I'd go chase them down and pick them up and put them on the counter, clap again, repeat 2-3 more times so they got the message. Same if I caught them sneaking up there while I was in the other room. After a while we never had any issues, except for when people came over and the cheekier of the two little shits would jump up and dare me to discipline her in front of company. Almost had to respect it at that point.
