Put your soyfaces on and get ready to head to the axe throwing bar that will absolutely still exist two years from now. Let's hear about your favorite local booze. I'll start.
I'm from Arkansas, which is like manlet Texas. Rock Town distillery makes some excellent whiskey, but my personal favorite is the Brandon's Gin. Tastes a lot like Tanqueray 10 except much less citrus and much more "old people" flavor. Goes fantastic in a Gin and Tonic, even better in a martini.
Arkansas also has some great breweries like Lost 40, but I'm not much of a beer guy so I don't pay very much attention to them.

the only flavored vodka I like, unless you consider gin a flavored vodka
the taste is not like normal grass, it's subtly cinnamony and vanilla-like... I like it neat or mixed with apple juice (this combination is called "apple pie" because that's pretty much what it tastes like)

I'm a pole so we mostly have vodka as the famous alcohol. Wyborowa/Wybo is pretty good and not too expensive most of the time, it is still made in Poland but the brand belongs to a foreign company.

I'm in Cincinnati. It's pretty much the largest distilling and to a lesser extent brewing area in the country, what with MGP being in spitting distance, and Kentucky being on the other side of the river. Many of the ones here kick ass, though I will give a shout to Cincinnati Distilling for making an Apple Brandy and an Absinthe.

Adding on to that, if you have like 3 hours to piss away, making your own cider is absolutely worth it. Just gotta let it sit for a day.

Depends on if you're a gin drinker or not. If you're not a gin drinker, start with Beefeater/Beefeater 24 (cheap, gives you a good idea of what gin is like so you can get on with your life if you don't really enjoy it). If you're a gin drinker, 100% try Sipsmith's VJOP gin. It's 57.7% and tastes like you're eating out a pine tree's pussy. I made a Last Word with it and got knocked on my ass after one cocktail.

Other anon has acceptable recommendations, but I want to tell you that if you're planning on making a gin and tonic and you buy any other tonic than Fever Tree, you're cheating yourself and wasting the money you spent on the gin.

The POG (Pineapple, Orange, Guava) flavor is actually pretty damn good. The bottle is pretty cool too. When I go back to the mainland to see my family I usually bring a couple bottles to give as presents.
