Wild Turkey 101 is wonderful, just finished a bottle myself. I usually don't like high righ bourbons but mixed with ginger ale it has just the right bite.

Since I killed my bottle of WT101 I've been drinking Old Grandad 114 with ginger ale and loving it. At 57% alcohol, it'll get you there. It's nasty when drank neat though, I've tried and can't stand it. I'm more of a fan of wheated bourbons. For sipping neat, I've been pacing myself with a bottle of Weller Special Reserve. I fucking love it and every time I pour a dram it's tempting to pour ~4oz instead my usual 2. I would drink it just as fast, it's that smooth. I can see why it's so hard to find a bottle in my area (Dallas, TX). I had to My other favorite to sip neat is Makers Mark Cask Strength. my bottle is 109 proof, and I add a water bottle cap's worth of water to it to open it up. I am not a huge fan of regular makers mark otherwise but this one is great. For the proof, there's very little alcohol heat, even when drank completely neat. It has a maple candy like sweetness that keeps you wanting more.

Hold it in your mouth longer before swallowing. It'll poke your tongue more, but you'll be able to enjoy the finish without coughing like a 6th grader who just found a pack of Camel blues. Also, exhale a little after you swallow, it pushes some of the excess vapor out. Biggest thing is to just take it slow; you're tasting whiskey, not trying to get pissed at a party.

inb4 everything I just said is taken out of context and someone jacks off to it.

Generally it's not a keep trying thing, it's a stop being cheap thing. You should try a light speyside, a smoky islay, and something sherried, but that's about it.
There's two avenues to avoid burn; get something extremely light (and generally low abv), or get something so flavorful that the alcohol is completely masked.

Whisk(e)y should only be sold at cask strength.

Whiskey sold at 40% ABV gives the consumer the option of enjoying it from 1-40% ABV. Whiskey sold at 60% ABV gives the consumer the option of enjoying it from 1-60% ABV.

Whiskey sold at less than cask strength needlessly robs the consumer of choice.

Still here, just trying to spend less time on social media. Makes me feel all fuzzy that y'all care.

>I want to hear his story.
Not much to tell, wish I could say something magical happened. On my days off I'm day drinking without a hint of guilt I suppose.

Opened uigaedail (hard to see, it's about 1/4 empty now) and pulteney. Had about 6-7 oz of whisky the first night. Flavor was kinda disappointing to what my mind and a year of these threads hyped it up to be. Also felt a bit of nausea ridiculously quick, by the 3rd oz. I was with people who don't drink whisky so I drank much quicker than usual to keep their pace.

A week later and I've had the opportunity to sip leisurely and I'm appreciating the Uige's flavor much more like I remember it. Old pulteney is new to me and sometimes it strikes me as good (sorta salty and fruity) other times all I can taste is the standard scotch barley note.

>*Reminder the bourbon shortage is literally Sazerac shilling.
This would only make sense if the prices in the primary market were increasing, yet the scarcity hasn't raised msrp, only made the prices on the secondary market skyrocket. So either you're wrong or you're implying they're buying their own product and also control the secondary market, which again wouldn't make sense since they can just raise the initial price.

How do you alchies cut down on your costs? I usually only buy single malts, but if I buy a bottle, I ususally polish it off the same night. What are your most cost-effective strategies?
