every brewing method other than a coffee machine is cheap
get a moka pot if you want thicker, more espresso-like coffee and a drip or french press if you don't

you'll still have to buy a grinder though and some good coffee beans to get a nice brew

French press is a great entry point. Consider dropping a bit of money on a good entry level grinder (I have the timemore c2), it'll allow you to get the best out of any of the beans you end up getting. Eg: if you have some lightly roasted beans a cheap bar grinder will leave you something super sour, whereas darker roasts might by too dark for your taste. A nice adjustable burr grinder means you can adjust to mitigate that.

grinding beans, then transferring them to the sieve, adding hot water in the lower part, dropping in the sieve, locking the two halves together with the bottom one being hot as fuck, cleaning it afterwards...all of that for two cups at best

Not necessary. And even if you add hot water to the bottom, the bottom part itself isn't hot yet. You sound like a toddler tbf if you're struggling with a moka pot. For cardiovascular disease, filtered coffee was linked to a 12% lower risk of death for men and a 20% lower risk of death for women compared with no coffee. Over all, unfiltered coffee was also associated with a slightly lower mortality (4% and 9% in men and women, respectively) compared with no coffee. >Coffee consumption has been associated with decreased mortality in previous studies. As aging, obesity, and lifestyle factors affect the risk of mortality, the association between coffee and mortality needs to be examined in various subpopulations by characteristics of subjects. To quantitatively assess this association, we conducted an updated meta-analysis including stratified analyses by potential modifiers. We searched in the PubMed and Web of Science databases through March 8, 2019, and conducted meta-analysis including linear and non-linear dose-response analyses. We identified 40 studies including 3,852,651 subjects and 450,256 all-cause and cause-specific deaths. Non-linear inverse associations between coffee consumption and mortality from all-causes, cardiovascular disease (CVD), and cancers were found. The lowest relative risk (RR) was at intakes of 3.5 cups/day for all-cause mortality (RR = 0.85, 95% CI 0.82-0.89), 2.5 cups/day for CVD mortality (RR = 0.83, 95% CI 0.80-0.87), and 2 cups/day for cancer mortality (RR = 0.96, 95% CI 0.94-0.99), while additional intakes were not associated with further lower mortality. An inverse association between coffee consumption and all-cause mortality was maintained irrespective of age, overweight status, alcohol drinking, smoking status, and caffeine content of coffee. By region, Europe and Asia showed stronger inverse associations than US. A non-linear inverse association was found for mortality from respiratory disease and diabetes, while linear inverse association was found for mortality from non-CVD, non-cancer causes. Moderate coffee consumption (e.g. 2-4 cups/day) was associated with reduced all-cause and cause-specific mortality, compared to no coffee consumption. The inverse association between coffee and all-cause mortality was consistent by potential modifiers except region.

Moka pot and manual grinder are my favorite cheap solution and it's what I use but you should get good quality and ideally freshly roasted coffee beans not the supermarket stuff. It's also a bit tricky to get the process right but after a while you'll perfect it and I like it as a sort of calming ritual.

Here's how I do it but I figured it out with a bit of googling and lots of trial and error and you'll have to experiment yourself. Make sure you grind a little coarser than you would for esspresso, don't push down the coffee just put it in, level it with the handle of a spoon and add a bit to make a bit of a mound on top. Then you want to minimize the amount of time the pot spends on hear so add hot water to the moka pot but not boiled, like 80C (hold the pot with a towel when screwing on the top), take the pot off the heat just as the coffee level reaches the start of the nozzle and immediately pour into a cup, never leave coffee in the pot so don't think you can just buy the biggest pot and make tons of coffee with a moka pot you make just what you immediately drink that's why they sell different sizes if you want a large batch of coffee then just buy a drip machine. If you like your coffee less concentrated then dilute with hot (not boiling) water. It's also great for making latte or cappucino since it's kinda more similar to espresso. You wont get the crema on top since there's not enough pressure but if you want to fake it to make latte art then mix small amount of cream and sugar in the cup before pouring the coffee. Clean with hot water and a sponge or a towel, no soap.

Nah. I haven't noticed any difference. The biggest issue with this is that ground coffee degrades real fast compared to whole beans even after like a day so I prefer to grind fresh. And going to a place to get coffee every day would beat the purpose of making coffee at home, why not just buy a cup of coffee at a cafe at that point? They'll make better coffee with a professional esspresso machine.

dude before you go dropping big investments just get yourself your standard drip maker from a thrift store and buy some affordable pre ground stuff like Folgers. If you're happy with it it's by far the most budget friendly method. As soon as you're buying whole beans or $10/lb pre-ground of "quality" coffee you're going to feel it in your wallet if you drink often and the benefit may not even be noticeable to you if you've been doing instant, let alone worth the expense.
