Steak is one of the most overrated dishes.
I am not wrong in thinking this.

Steak is good, the problem is that fly*vers and other cultureless trash '''''people'''''' think it's the only good food.

no thank you

The problem with steaks are they don't showcase the cook enough. They are what we in the industry call "heat and serve" Any pleb can cook a steak with very little skill and practice.

How is it overrated? You just hate it because it’s popular. I’d say it’s rated about right

>> No.15285397

steak is great but the idea of going out to a ''''steakhouse''''' for a special dinner and having something easy as shit to cook for >£50 is fucking insane

so in a word yes

It is overrated due to the history of it in the US. Originally beef had to be driven 1000's of miles over rough trails to slaughterhouses then expensively distributed, so it was seen as a rich man's food. The unwashed masses saw it as a status symbol of wealth and class. With the advent of trains, it became much cheaper and the sheeple glommed onto it with the attitude, "we's just lahk 'dem hi-falutin' fancy pants now, we is!" To this day, the sheeple still grasp at that, whereas the wealthy (other than the classless nouveau riche, often of an orange tint) spit on steak.

And that kids, is the story of why steak is overrated.

If you eat a steak at a chain restaurant, you are always eating garbage. You will likely be eating a "steak" that would have been better served as part of a roast of beef, or even as a hamburger sandwich.

However, if you eat a steak at a proper steakhouse, the sort of place mobsters get shot in front of while trying to get into their cars, then your experience will be infinitely better.

Mediocrity is ever-present while excellence is difficult to find. Go to a steakhouse where reservations are required and in which you will pay a week's (working class) salary for your meal and you will not be disappointed.

Very few steaks are worth the praise they are regularly given. I usually cringe at all the steak threads and posts I see. 1/2inch boneless strip steaks with no marbling, poor sears, under-rendered fat, and large gray rings surrounding undercooked centers. Typically accompanied by flaccid pale mushrooms and mashed potatoes in a pan sauce.

The photo is almost always terribly lit, with a sad dirty glass of whisky, all set on a smudgy table. This steak is overrated. Just because it is steak does not mean it’s a good meal. But NPCs will post their shitty steak and potatoes dinners for the world to see and most people mindlessly like it and say a stupid fucking quip about rob swanson. It’s insufferable and tired.

Now real prime grade, bone-in steaks cooked to perfection are delicious. Dry-aged is even better, easily one of the best tasting things that is so simplistic. However when people are posting steaks this is rarely the case.

i think its just so classic and nutritious/wholesome to get a plate with a steak, roasted potatoes, and asparagus.
like, even if you fuck one of the things up, except maybe a well done steak, it will still be a really good experience and that just translate into a classic.

only plebs can't appreciate well-done steak. they say well-done is inherently overcooked and can't even differentiate between cooking a steak to an internal temperature of 160F and 170F, they'd say it's the same. did you know well-done steaks are actually more flavorful? when protein is cooked to well-done it contracts and squeezes out excess water. this means the flavor of the steak is concentrated. people who like less than well-done are basically saying "wow this watery steak is great". most carnivores who eat raw meat don't even chew it, which is why less than well-done is actually chewier, but people act like this is better for some reason. when meat is well-done the muscle fibers shred apart more easily, this is better for us since we actually chew our food. something like a lion or wolf just tears off chunks of meat and swallow them whole, people don't do this, so less than well-done is actually chewier. steaks are overrated anyway, it's like a bare minimum of effort to actually prepare them. i'd rather have a good braised piece of fatty meat, that's way better, especially once the fat has started to melt and become buttery. notice how a lot of people just cut the fat off the steak and don't eat it because it's chewy? that's wasteful and you're missing out on something that could be really good. i dunno why steak has gotten to be such a premium product with so many strange rituals surrounding it. i guess people just fell for the marketing of it being a premium product and eating an undercooked chewy steak making them cultured and superior. i'd even rather just have a good burger over a steak. welcome to good burger home of the good burger, can i take your order? who loves orange soda? kel loves orange soda. is it true? i do i do i do-o. benis.

It depends on the cut and if you don’t know that you don’t know shit about steak. Opinion discarded.
