>A chemical compound used in vanilla flavouring and scents comes from the anal glands of beavers.

So, who was the first person to discover that a beavers ass tastes like vanilla?

I dunno but I’ve used real vanilla and it’s miles better than beaver butthole extract, I think this is just one of those things where they try to convince you it’s just as good but it never will be and never was. If you notice, there’s rarely ever real vanilla extract anymore. Pretty soon they’ll gaze out the real meat for bug and plant based substitutes.

someone explain this to me. How common is this? i thought vanilla flavour came from wood

>> No.15274115

>>15274105
Vanilla flavor naturally comes from the vanilla flower you sped, but it’s incredibly common for the USDA to approve “extracts” from sources such as beavers assholes, bugs assholes (look up the pink coloring in McDonald’s milkshakes), and many other creatures assholes because the demand is sufficiently way too fucking high for supply to be met.

Just wait until you find out about that crunchy coating on M&Ms.

>> No.15274130

>>15274121
Kek, technically there’s a certain amount of “crunch” in everything you buy, as the USDA allows a certain amount of particulate insect matter in literally everything. Grow your own food people. Sustainable home growing is the way of the future, believe me the whole world is gonna tell you that you’re retarded until the supply chain inevitably collapses under the duress of WWIII

Not common anymore. There are cheaper ways to make imitation vanilla.

I'm just fucking around.
While actual shellac is an ingredient that a person can buy, and small amounts were used in some candies in the past, M&Ms are really just a sugar coating that's highly polished so it sort of looks like shellac.

Beavers scent mark their territory in a musky sweet odor using their butts. Since it's meant to smell, you probably don't have to rim a beaver to discover it.

>> No.15274939

the beaver juice was use in perfumes. Then chemists found the formula, then made the association with vanilla's own formulas. Fuck off furry
