A fried fish sandwich is a very enjoyable food, some would say, to die for. Is the Fillet O Fish a perfect example? Personally, I could do without the cheese flap and perhaps add lettuce for texture.

I'd get them more if they weren't so expensive compared to a cheeseburger

This plus you have to wait three times longer because they always have to be made from scratch

Yeah it's really annoying, I used to work at McD's and having to thaw out, de scale and fillet a fish, then slice, bread, and fry it was always a major pain. It took so long I was shocked anybody waited.

Pic related is the correct way to make a fish sandwich. Essentially deep fried beer battered fish slapped on a nice bun. Add whatever salads and tartare sauce.

I tried the filet o fish after a co-worker told me it was surprisingly good. It was shit. That being said, the McDonald's that's right next to my job is kind of shit at making anything besides the nuggets and a few of the burgers being alright.

Honestly, I rarely eat seafood because of the texture and the oily fish only gives me the flavor of fish oil, which is putrid to me. There was none of that in the filet o fish. The outside was ok, the tartar sauce was decent enough, buns are just fine buns. The cheese is what it is, nothing great but nothing bad either. I think the real issue was the age of the ingredients being used. I do not think that the fish patty or the tartar sauce was fresh. I took two bites and threw it out. Luckily, I bought a McDouble to have something to eat.

You got it easy. Every other weekday I went with my boss on a small boat and we had to go fishing for them too!

You should try FRESH blue cod or monkfish deep fried. The species and freshness of the fish matters. Shitty frozen cheap fish tastes very fishy compared to freshly caught quality fish.

I would love to. Of course I can't judge McDonald's as having fresh ingredients but relatively fresh shouldn't be difficult to manage on their part.

I have the unfortunate living situation where there's no places with good fried fish around me, the closest is Yard House and theirs is ok, good crisp, not a fish oil flavor, they have a jalapeno tartar sauce. They suck at giving salt & pepper, or any extra condiments for that matter.

I need to go to the UK or at least the north east US to get good fried fish, I'd imagine.

I live in New Zealand on the coast so i suppose I take fresh fish for granted. It is absolutely everywhere, but still expensive. Around 30 dollars a kilo for blue cod fillets. About the cost of grass fed beef eye fillet/tenderloin. Absolutely heavenly though.

Jalapeno tatar sauce sounds great. We don't get much jalapeno down here. Not the right climate and not many mexicans.

I live on the west coast of the US. Originally from Scandinavia. I'm dying to get out of this place. Here the only fish people eat is tuna or mahi mahi, sometimes salmon. Sure sushi is a thing but I highly doubt that many people actually cook fish at time, there will be some but generally speaking people don't often cook real food at home. Moreso now during quarantine but still not a lot. The stuff that's missing from the supermarket shelves are the frozen meals.

Mcdonald's workers don't make the filet o fish products. I've seen the boxes of premade filet o fish patties on their way to the dumpsters, I've seen them emptying the boxes after deliveries. I've seen the deliveries. Idk how it's done in certain nations but I'm the US the product shows up and is ready for the employees to heat. It's the same with tons of other products. Are you really stupid enough to before that they make people with the IQ of 30-40 to actually prepare a piece of protein adequately? It's all premade, that's why it's dry and boring.

it is the best menu item at mcdonalds
there is something different with the bun. it is much softer than any other bun they make
very pleasant texture. and it is also the most-consistent mcdonalds menu item. a filet o fish is just as good at a mcdonalds in a black people area than one from a good place to live

Fillet O Fish is McD's best and most underrated item, I love it but I always thought the cheese was weird. Once I tried replacing the cheese with the lettuce and it didn't taste right, it needs the cheese. It's weird but it's like that, I still order it regularly

oh yeah and my only problem is that it's priced almost like Big Mac or Qter Lber but it should be like a $3 item at most.
