How much money does /ck/ spending on groceries and eating out?

Finding I'm spending about $50/person/week for two people on groceries in the SoCal economic climate. We eat out about once a week so that's breakfast/lunch/dinner for 7 days minus one meal. Is that about right or am I overspending?

I'm in Ventura county, I can't imagine what shit is like in LA.

I feel like I eat pretty good, split a steak once a week and get good booze. Cut out beer for the winter to save money, switched to whisky.

Where are you, what are you spending, and how good do you eat?

>> No.15269443

I live pretty well below my means. I grocery shop once a week, then give myself $50 for the rest of the week that I can spend on anything. That includes eating out, drinking, hobbies, videogames, ect. A lot of times I wont do anything and my budget will roll over to the next week so i can afford a videogame or a jacket or something.

>Also get the fuck out of California.
I'm strongly considering it. Just got married and am now budgeting for a house. I can get a methlab for $300k here or a mansion in another state. Wife and I are making like $90k/yr right now (27/26 yrs old) but in CA that works out to about $5,800/mo take-home pay. I enjoy cooking but trying to save as much money as quickly as possible for a down payment.

I wouldnt even bother saving for a down payment while paying rent in that state. Find a republican state you both like. Apply for jobs and get a decent apartment. The longer you are in that state the more money you are throwing down the drain

What's your take-home pay? I also try to shop once a week but usually end up going to Trader Joe's for some stuff there I really like. Their salmon is really good, as well as their booze selection. Frozen tamales are great too.

>> No.15269692

I spent around 50-60 weekly on groceries from Trader Joe's in Boston. Granted, a lot of it was just nice extras, like snacks or their frozen meals. It could probably be lower if I wanted to, and if I found a better place for beef (joe's beef is very expensive)

I take home anywhere from $1100-$1400 depending on how much extra hours i decide to work.

About £60 a week, mostly on junk snacks. I hardly ever eat out. Shit has gotten far more expensive this year. Bought about £300 worth of food yesterday, so I don't have to go out again until Feburary.

Yeah their red meat is overpriced and not very good.

What's an average week-long meal plan look like on that budget from TJ's?
