It has come to my attention that poeple outside of the UK are disgusted when they learn of the existence of beans on toast.

Why is this?

>> No.15269113

The toast becomes soggy and wet, while youre left with gross, sauceless beans

>> No.15269125

>>15269113
Untrue.
You butter the bread first you disgusting Mutt.
This forms a barrier to prevent bean juice soaking in.

Do americans really cally legumes on crispy gives you toots and break windsy "beans on toast"?

American here I think it is fine would add something spicy to it seems bland also needs a crunch red onion would work

It's good but not with American style beans. Have to use the blue, Heinz cans. They are available here, just 2X the price.

I don't like beans, pretty much at all, so yeah I find it disgusting. The thought of blood sausage or pudding turns my stomach as well.

Just not my jam, Britanon. However, you do you let anyone tell you otherwise.

Im american and the beans on toast thing sounds kinda good to me actually
Actually the whole english breakfast sounds good to me. I’d gladly live in the UK and eat your cuisine.

Not disgusted. We eat beans, and toast, sometimes even at the same time if we're eating Texas barbecue. We just think it's sad that you're not having delicious barbecue and mac-n-cheese and potatoes with your beans and toast.

>> No.15269229

>>15269147
I mean the toast is supposed to be crunch.
But there's nothing stopping you adding to it.
People add brownsauce, cheese, bacon bits to it all the time.

I'm with you on the Full English thing. I'm dubious about black pudding, but I'd give it a try before rendering a final verdict. Doubt I'd want to live there, but a visit just to have a Full English, a Sunday roast, a good fish & chips, and bangers & mash would be worthwhile. I'd probably hop right over to Ireland for the pubs, Guinness, and distilleries as soon as I was done though.

That's the problem mostly.
People tend not to understand they are completely different beans.
When people talk beans in the UK they think Heinz, which are Navy beans. They are soft but full and carry sauce very well.
People assume beans on toast uses chilli beans like pinto or kidney beans.

>> No.15269280

Yup, Heinz beans are available here. Same thing with Irish butter. Irish youtubers put me on to their butter, and holy shit it's a ride I don't want to get off of. I've just committed to paying double for my butter from now on to have the good stuff.

I just don't find the slightly mushy exture of beans to work with a crispy and buttered piece of toasted bread. I often make toasted sandwiches with some type of spread like mustard or ajvar smeared onto the toasted bread but the beans just don't fit in my opinion.
But when they are separate, as in full english - they are quite good.

Believe it or not, that's not an unreasonable use of beans. People from Cincinnati do it all the time with their "chili".
