Thoughts on slow cookers?

I know they have fallen out of vogue recently but they have their place. Im making a slow cooker bean and bacon soup for dinner tomorrow. Minimal effort tonight, there it on low when when I wake up tomorrow and its ready when im off work. Sure, there are better ways. But the conversation convenience is hard to beat.

Slow cookers are good for soups, roasts, and they make amazing pulled pork. Using a slow cooker is nothing to be ashamed of. I developed an interest in cooking by making dishes in my slow cooker after I finished college.

Good if you've got a cheap and tough piece of meat and lots of root vegetables. Remember to add more water than you think you need.

Also good as a serving pot.
