Basically shitty Indian cuisine.

>> No.15222916

I've tried it. Tastes ok like most south Asian food.

A friend I had in school was Sri Lankan and everytime he celebrated his birthday his mother cooked a lot of great food.
I really liked those dough pockets filled with potatoes and meat, what are they called?

Not really. Excessive use of spices which is not really required. I think it mirrors South Indian cuisine but lacks the balance of spices as in Thai cuisine or Punjabi cuisine.

The dough was a darker brown and they were more cylindrical and longer.
I think they might have been (deep) fried as well.
It's been a long time I ate them. :(

We call them "pattis". Deep fried. I think they're from Eastern Europe.

I may be biased, but i find a lot of african cuisines to just be less flavorful versions of indian food. They have curries and sauces, but i typically prefer their indian counterparts.

I really enjoyed somalian food though. It was like a crossover with middle eastern influence that i really liked.

They are sri lankan version of Chinese rolls.

Spent a few weeks riding a motorbike around Sri Lanka. Solid curries, but not a lot of regional variance within the country, so it got a bit repetitive. Along the coast where they used a lot of fresh seafood was the best.
