I remember eating the McDLT back in the day.
1. The shit was constantly a mess. The "cool side" (lettuce, tomato, cheese) would always be off the bun by the time you'd gotten the damn thing to your table (worse if it was to-go). You'd always have to repair it.
2. Hot side was often not hot at all by the time you ate it because the burger would lose a ton of heat since it wasn't covered. So it really didn't keep the hot side hot.
3. Hot side would have a ton of water dripping from the lid and onto the burger from the steam from the burger, making it soggy.
4. Cheese was on the cold side. Maybe it's just a personal preference, but I prefer my cheese melted.
5. The container was too big for what it was. Honestly, though, I really miss the McDonalds styrofoam containers. I know they were essentially poison for the environment, but they were also comfy as fuck. Same as smoking sections and ash trays in places like McDonalds.
6. It didn't really stay together too well when you put it together, I guess because the cheese wasn't melted. I remember it sliding apart as you ate it.
7. The whole thing really boiled down to the McDLT being a standard burger wrapped up in gimmick packaging. You could just order a quarter pounder with cheese and get the exact same burger but for less. Hell, I'm pretty sure big macs were cheaper than the mcdlt.
