I followed chef john's recipe to a T and it was awesome. Not undercooked and not really missing tomato flavor at all

seems unnecessary. My recipe might be a little more white trash but I just use ketchup/bbq/beef stock and worcestirshire to make the sauce along with seasoning and onions, green pepper and garlic. The thiccness off bbq and ketchup basically means u dont gotta reduce, can bang out some mean sloppy in like 15 mins total
