I actually tried one recently. It's pretty good. Especially with malt vinegar on it. The fries have a very different texture, and if they're cooked with something like lard, taste vaguely meaty. I'd actually recommend it. But the fact is that practically every single country has some variation of 'put something carb into other carb'. In Oregon we have Best Baguette a small chain of Vietnamese bakeries. They make the best banh mi all things considered. Consistency is perfect across all their locations, and all operating hours. They're clean fast and efficient. They probably have a brutal goose stepping slave driver of regional manager. Starting at the bread. Its always fresh baked in house and a respectable loaf in it's own right. The special is the only thing you should order. It has mayo, pickled carrots, daikon, cilantro, jalapeno, and soy sauce, pate, ham, pork roll, and head cheese. It's also less than $4. How can other sandwiches even compete?

My favorite sandwich is as follows:
Procure some (good quality) english muffins. If they don't need to be refrigerated, they're shit.
Procure some Kerrygold butter.
Proceed to fry the english muffins in said butter.
Add whatever toppings you like.
My favorites are (good quality) ham and (good quality) cheese. Maybe baby swiss, or aged gruyere, or smoked gouda, or manchego.
To top it off, said sandwich must include both (good quality) tomato and (good quality) mayonnaise. A slice of red onion does the trick as well. If you're so inclined, some greens.
This is my idea of a top notch sandwich.
