To be honest... if you want real/authentic Italian food, then obviously Olive Garden isn’t your go to. Treating it as such is very retarded. Personally, I’ve lived in Italy and know a lot of authentic recipes and watch youtubers like Vincenzo’s Plate and Curoedicioccolato, but I still like Olive Garden not as ‘authentic Italian’ cuisine, but as its own thing. It has its own ‘Italian American’ niche that it fills, for me it’s the Suppa Toscana, the shrimp alfredo and breadsticks with sweet tea or water.

They put some kind of garlic spread over the breadsticks then put a whole baking sheet of them in this multi-tiered industrial oven, and once they're out they go in a bread warmer until servers come back to grab some. No idea what's in that spread but it has to be one of their closely guarded secrets. The dressing you get in the restaraunt is a more enhanced version of what you get in the store, because of course they'd dilute it down so you know you get the better stuff in-house. As for the salad, it comes in bags and is refrigerated. No idea what's the deal with their dressing.
