If you get one get one that comes with a basket so you can make rotisserie chicken, skewers and basically fry everything to perfection in the basket. Also PROTIP get a nice oil spray, food turns out much better with a light coating.

One distributes the heat into a smaller space making it efficient and economical. The other wastes a lot of heat warming empty space and has a larger footprint.

You're sperging over saving literal pennies on power consumption. Airfryers and convection ovens with similar container capacities consume roughly the same amount of power (1800 - 1600W for standard sized appliances).
Sure, you could jam the airfryer basket with slightly more shitty frozen fries, but compare what you save on your cooking apparatus to the use of your fridge, stove, and computer.

Sure. If you don't think it saves money then I don't know what I can do to convince you. You are wrong though. Electric and gas bill vs air fryer. You are just wrong.

What about saving time?

Pre-heating the oven, especially if you have a shitty oven can take forever.

In a direct comparison with a convection oven its biggest benefit is the form factor, it's basically a small turbocharged convection oven, which makes it perfect for quickly baking normal sized portions fresh every day. However IMO what really sets it apart are the models with a spit/rotating basket.

Gas has nothing to do with airfryers or true convection ovens. The average cost of electricity in the US is about 13.19 cents per kWh. Let's say your super efficient airfryer uses 1400W. A similarly sized convection oven uses 1800W. Let's say you're going to cook some fries at about 25 minutes in your airfryer, and 30 for a countertop convection oven (5 minutes added for preheating time)

1.4kW * .4166 h = ~0.5833 kWh
1.8kW * .5000 h = ~0.9 kWh
0.9 - 0.5833kWh = 0.3167 kWh
0.3167 kWh * 13.19 cents = 4.1772 cents

For a single use of an airfryer to cook "everything that applies". Congratulations, you're saving 4-5 cents per use.

I live in Vancouver BC Canada so this doesn't apply to me. It's different here. The gas company and electrical are separate. Natural Gas and BC Hydro.

Also

>Let's say you're going to cook some fries at about 25 minutes in your airfryer, and 30 for a countertop convection oven (5 minutes added for preheating time)

Problems there already. Oven is 15 minutes preheating easy. 30 mins cooking.
Air fryer start-end 12 mins.

And? What does gas have to do with any of this?

In Canada the average cost of electricity is about 17.4 cents per kWh. Even with the new times you factored in, you're still saving about 18 cents per use.
