I just ordered from a local chinese restaurant with good reviews. What am I in for with almond boneless chicken? What’s the best thing to get from chinese restaurants usually?

Hrm, never ordered an almond chicken for some reason, but I think it's just that oyster sauce, and a few sauteed veggies, like some crisp . I think if going with that sauce and veggie profile, I would prefer a egg foo young.
Most of the time, if I'm ordering chinese food out, though, it'll be something I don't enjoy making at home, ie something fried or fussy and labor intensive, like some kind of stuffed dumplings, good eggrolls and probably 1 item that is spicy.

My order is usually a cup of egg flower/egg drop soup, fried shrimp, pork fried rice, and either sweet and sour chicken or pork with the sauce on the side since that shit gets soggy quick.

General Tso Chicken and sometimes fried rice or noodles.
It's hard to find good general tso these days.
The worst general tso I ever had was from a local place with good reviews.
The chicken was spongy and lukewarm, felt microwaved. The sauce was runny and had what looked like red chili flakes in it, but I picked one out of my teeth and examined it.
It was literally little pieces of red clear plastic.
It tasted like a piece of plastic, bent, and you couldn't even rip it. I cut a piece with scissors and it was definitely plastic.
I've also heard some Chinese restaurants use fake rice that have styrofoam in them

Why would they do that? That would be more expensive than just using regular rice

Because they use a LOT of rice and how long a bag of uncooked rice lasts is pretty unreliable. You can get a giant bag of rice that only has a shelf life of three days and not know it, or sometimes they'll get rice with bugs and mold in it.
Instead of taking the risk they use the fake stuff, which is worse

What I remember as chinese food growing up as a young kid in Hong Kong

>turtle/shark fin soup
>fried chicken feet
>pig uterus noodles
>fried rice with pork knuckle gristle
>unidentifed fish balls on a stick
>boiled dog meat
>one time, monkey brains

Americans have no idea how bad it really is. No one in china knows what the fuck beef and broccoli is or sweet and sour pork. Chinese food is disgusting. Literally the worst parts to eat of any animal. Makes sense because chinks are the race of humans closest to animals. They make disgusting noises when they eat, slurp everything, men in the streets lift their fucking wife beaters over their sweaty stomachs while laughing and chewing with their mouths full of food. Like what kind of idiot decided 2 sticks is the most practical way to eat grains of fucking rice. Starving Nigerians who eat grass have a better diet than the average chinese.

Breaded chicken in almond sauce, with slivered almonds mixed in. It's a food; you eat it.

>What’s the best thing to get from chinese restaurants usually?

Depends on what you like. It's meat in sauce served over rice, it's not that difficult.
