Non artisan lard and tallow are high temperature deodorized too ... and a lot of artisan stuff will just be repackaged supermarket stuff, caveat emptor.

As far as I know the temperature for hot pressing is well below the smoke point. It's going to decompose vitamins etc but that will happen if you fry in it any way.

I know of a couple of brands who claim to deodorize their coconut oil at 140C, that's unlikely to form any carcinogens.

As someone who unfortunately works for one, it's okay at best. Does it taste like sausage? Sorta, has the spices, but the texture truly is wrong, and when the stuff is in the make table it smells god awful and looks more like dog food than anything else, even compared to our regular stuff. It is indeed meat free, but it's still touched by hands that just made a meat lovers, and it's still cut on the same peel and with the same blade, the only difference is it goes into it's own pretty little box. It's limited and will only make a come back if there's enough demand, it's more expensive than anything else product wise, including cheese.
