I'm a broke 30 year old M living by myself. No one to have thanksgiving with

I'm thinking about investing in a giant frozen turkey because of the price / lb is pretty cheap, then breaking it down into its respective parts and eating it over the next few weeks

Thighs and drumsticks and wings are good just roasted

Bones will be good for stock

Just wondering what I should do with the dry ass breasts

Thinking about making ground turkey but then idk what else to do with ground turkey

Turkey breast gets dry if you try to cook it at the same time/temp as the dark meat; the dark meat is either raw (and perfect breasts), or the breasts are dried up and awful (but perfect dark meat).

Pretty much same here. Kroger 33 cents a pound yesterday. Bake that shit up and fill the freezer with sandwich bags pound at a time. Breasts are always dry later so I make a simple casserole with shredded breast meat, rice, can of whatever soup. Or yeah sandwiches with mayo. Ground turkey sucks. I'd recommend baking the entire thing, eating the breasts, then using the leftovers over time on dishes that require precooked turkey, like turkey noodle soup. My college roommate and I did this years ago, ended up making some excellent turkey enchiladas.

Turkeys are just barely available here. Costco brings a few in at Thanksgiving for us Amerifats stuck here, but that's it.

Sure, you can break it down and keep most of it frozen. Don't cook it and then freeze the cooked stuff, it really doesn't hold up well. Speaking from experience.

I wouldn't suggest grinding up the hooters. They can be roasted and then sliced for sandwiches. I like cranberry jelly (Ocean Spray of course) and mayo on a turkey-breast sandwich.

cook it to 145 with a digital thermometer and then rest it for 10 minutes.
