What's up /ck/ chads. I've never visited this board before but here I am. I'm a /fit/izen whose been losing weight with portion control but now I want to take the next step. And that is weening myself off of processed junk food and learning how to cook. See, I'm a noob, I tried cooking chicken and things before but they never came out tasting right. Idk if it's seasoning or what but point is it's completely a blank mimd for me so....
What are we cooking?
What are some cooking secrets to make food taste good? And by food I mean low carb, not fried.

Hi friend. Let me let you in on a little secret. ‘Round these parts, we like to use a little meme called “sloppa.” Someone posts chili? Sloppa. Someone posts a mcchicken covered in mayo? Sloppa. It stands for sloppa shit. Enjoy.

MSG. Buy a shaker of accent or other MSG and use a bit of it whenever you use salt in savory applications.

The first level is understanding that Marinading chicken imbues the inner meat with taste, while seasoning stops at the outer layer. Soak that shit in some lemon juice and be amazed

hello OP
>fat is tasty (i.e. chicken thighs are tastier than breast - they're also cheaper). Imo the best way is to roast a whole chicken, or two and use the meat off that for days after. the juices & fat here are super tasty...keep to fry rice in
>be curious - try new shit as often as possible, work out what you like
>enjoy your food... a lot of /fit/izens are highly autistic and will eat the same prepped meal 6x a week every week. that's a grim way to exist.
>liver is suuuuper cheap and very nutritious, highly recommended
>chilli with beans is very high in fibre and protein and good for a few days in advance
dunno what else, bon appetit

Keep it simple and failure is ok. You want low carbs? Well start off with some stir fry. This gives you a wide variety of vegetables to choose from, will teach you about meat cuts if you'd like, improve your knife skills and get you acquainted with oils. It's also easy to prep your veg mix, sauce and meat to store them for about a week so you can have a fresh hot meal without too much fuss.
Look up sauces that might sound nice and work on making them, taste every ingredient as you use it, this will get you acquainted with how some things can taste like poison ass on its own but be wonderful when paired with other flavors and this will build up your knowledge of flavor profiles
You're going to fail, no one can tell you how much seasoning or salt is "too much" unless your following a recipe that calls for strict amounts, most people play this by ear and you should too.

Ok, you want a serious response? Here's something easy to cook that is impossible to fuck up. You need

>butter
>garlic
>cooking sherry, pic related
>Tony chere's creole seasoning
>tilapia fillets

Melt some butter in a pan at around medium heat. Dice the garlic and add it to the pan, cook it for about 30 seconds or until you can smell the garlic well enough. Roll the butter around until the pan bottom is coated. Add the tilapia fillets, and then pour some of the cooking sherry into the pan, until there is enough liquid that the edges of the filets are coated in liquid. Do not put so much they are submerged. Season with a little tony's. Cook the filets until the white cooked bits are starting to come up the sides, then flip once and cook until white all the way through. The sherry and butter should reduce down to a nice sauce to put over the fish.
