I hate looking at old people. Their houses are usually littered and dirty because they no longer can clean properly. I hate looking at their shaky hands lacking any fine motor skills. I hate when theyput a spoon to their mouths with shaky hands and slurp loudly for 5 seconds. I hate looking at their wrinkly skin covered in peach fuzz. They only take baths like once a weed or once a month. They stink of old people.

milquetoast means uninspiring, meek, boring, unassertive, etc.
IIRC it became a word after some character in a comic was named "milquetoast," but the name is derived from milk toast, which is literally just toast in warm milk and is as bland as it sounds. It fell out of fashion some time ago, but for whatever reason has had a rebound in popularity.

It's kind of an insult, but not a seriously derogatory one unless someone has such an axe to grind that they take offense to unoffensiveness.

I had a client at my old job who you would have thought was dirt poor but the old man was a legit millionaire. He sold his house in the hills for like 2 million and helped his son by a $700,000 house. He would walk around with about 15-20k in cash everyday he came into my shop. But you would almost think this guy was homeless from his looks. Just because some people aren't flashy doesn't mean they don't have money. Likewise for the opposite. A lot of the people are living a lie.

The straight appeal is that they are mildly entertaining and relatable to a large-enough demographic by doing their own oddball thing in a uniquely charming way without chasing (too many) trends or trying to mime more successful content creators. That's the "wholesome" bit.
The ironic appeal is portraying them as people of much greater power, influence, prestige, ability, etc. than meets the eye, or exaggerating the intentions of their mundane actions with fantastical explanation.

The typically contrarian nature of anons usually means these kind of people go through the following phase:
>Anons discover them at random and highlight them.
>They are too boring to attract the lolcow crowd, so most of the OC/comments/parodies are tongue-in-cheek and lighthearted in nature
>This spreads by word of mouth to a larger demographic far beyond their initial niche
>They keep on doing their thing regardless, so anons end up complaining about the now-popular person being watered-down, fake-and-gay, and "[insert other community]," and feel obligated to voice this in related threads.
>The person eventually changes too much, stops making content or just fades out of the limelight without much comment.

Interestingly enough, lolcows usually have much longer staying power if they continue to produce lols, and don't get a similar rejection.
My guess is that the same anons who feel the need to disparage people for liking "wholesome" personalities are the same kind who get their kicks from prodding lolcows, so any vitriol directed at them is just fuel for their fire.
