Is there any better way of feeding a crowd than Costco pizza?

>> No.15085626

No, there isn't. It's pretty bad pizza but if you take price and convenience into account it would be my choice if I had to feed a bunch of people on short notice. No one asks for costco pizza but no one is gonna complain about it either if it was free. Vegans would, but vegans can go fuck themselves.

Can someone explain the obsession with free food to me? I'd rather take a hard pass on the free food and have something good later. This is why I hate free work lunches. I get a dollar or two worth of pizza while they get my nearly free labor to have a meeting or send me back to my desk for more work, when I could be out of the office.

Free food simply tastes better. It's an objective fact. It isn't even a rich/poor thing, I make way more now than when I was a broke ass college student but I'll still get excited for a free lunch.

You're missing the point here, unless you're making absolute minimum wage or barely over. Everyone in my office makes over ~$25 an hour, probably more (it's salaried so being rough, I make ~$45). We're allowed an hour lunch break.

Five Costco pizzas cost $50 or so, but they're getting hundreds of dollars of free labor in a meeting, or at least some percentage of that as people work at their desk with their food and work through an hour where your labor losses could have been in the thousands.

It's a huge fucking scam. I'd cater lunch every single day as a business owner and laugh my way to the bank.

>Any Costco workers around? Why aren't they bringing back the combo pizza despite all other major items returning?

Costco's combo pizza used to be the best pizza-value in town. It's baffling why it was ever removed to begin with. We tried asking one of the food-courtiers about it, pointing out that since Costco still sells all of the ingredients separately (onions, sausage, etc), why couldn't they put it on a pizza? She explained that the pies are prepared elsewhere, not in store--but that really wasn't the point. It's the supply chain. The ingredients aren't being imported. What, were the combos being assembled in China? And if not, why stop selling what must have been their most popular pizza offering? (Does anyone over the age of five order pepperoni or plain cheese when a "classic combo" is offered for the same price? Has Costco been selling most of its pies to kindergarten teachers?)

If you want real answers and not "MUH COVID", you'll need to talk to someone at ((corporate)). Perhaps the combo pie had ceased being profitable and they were just looking for an excuse to axe it.

>>15085651

Not a fair comparison; we're talking about HOT large pies being sold for ten bucks. (Yes, probably previously-frozen. Yes, plus the amortized annual membership cost.) And that's real large, not Domino's "large". It's debatable whether paying someone else two bucks to put the pizza in the oven is convenience or laziness, but it does make a difference.

Outside? Amongst the hobos and streetwalkers? Where I could get attacked by wild dogs or fall into a sinkhole? Why would I ever do that, when I could be comfortably ensconced on a porcelain throne, pants around my ankles and legs akimbo, free to scratch my balls between bites of totally FREE, no-strings-attached office pizza?

No anon, it is YOU who are deceived--or perhaps even the deceiver...

Wait--is this Karen from HR? The one who is trying to enforce a mandatory daily exercise period in exchange for decreased health-insurance premiums? So we meet again... You didn't succeed in stopping me from using the elevator for one-floor trips. You didn't succeed in preventing me from scooting my wheely-chair between meetings instead of walking. And now this?

You can take my free pizza when you storm into the men's toilet and pry it from my clammy, unwashed hands.

Earlier in Perpetual Lockdown Year 1, the combo option was simply whited out. Then they got a newly-printed permanent sign without it. That's when we knew the ride was over.

Imagine trying to explain the combo pizza to your kids...

>Hey Johhny, did I ever tell you about the Costco combo pie?
>"C-combo?"
>Yeah, like "combination".
>"Like a combination of pepperoni and cheese? Don't they sell that now?"
>Yes, Johnny, but they used to combine pepperoni and cheese with... other ingredients.
>"O-other ingredients? What other ingredients? What else could possibly go on pizza?"

And later, when you stop by Costco for your weekly pallet of toilet paper, the guard stops you at the door. That little bastard Johnny, he ratted you out. There is no Costco combo pizza, and so there never was a Costco combo pizza. To say or even think otherwise demands... correction.

>"We're sorry, sir, but your membership to Costco has been by thine own hand revoked..."

I'm 11 years into my professional career over three different companies, it has nothing to do with one boss. But, at your desk, you work. You don't get to play Switch or fuck around off your computer. If anyone walked by, you'd be fired on the spot. You can go to the cafeteria, but still, everyone talks mostly work, maybe some minutia, and eating a packed lunch or sandwich doesn't take a full hour. Back to desk, back to work.

I'm Director level for a Fortune 500 and I still sit in an "open office" where everyone can see my monitors. Paid lunch is always a meeting, in every company. I can easily leave for as long as I want if there's no free food.

Like I said, I dropped the "pay for food" thing to more leadership and we know how profitable it is. People won't leave work or meetings if we pay for a tiny bit of pizzas.
