ITT: Anons share unitaskers they actually like. Other anons roast them for it.

I'll start. These are my butter warmers. I have used them once for bagna cauda and another time for lobster. It's something I use super infrequently, but when you need it it's great.

I have never had an issue with melted butter turning solid while eating crab. Just heat up a ramekin. There's no way you are eating crab or lobster for such a long period of time that the butter goes cold like that. That being said, the butter warmer in the OP looks like a decent thing to use just for the aesthetic of it.

Ackshuallie, yeah, I have.
Started with a warm ramekin and melted butter; ended up with solidified butter.
I could use my dinner companion's* naievete as an excuse, but in truth, I've only myself to blame.

A candle under the ramekin would have been quite useful.

Anon, I like to think I'm a pretty skilled cook, and getting a fine mince on garlic still takes me at least like 30 seconds.

If doing more than a few cloves, I'll actually use my mortar and pestle in many cases because the cleanup is easier than having to mince all that garlic. It's a time consuming task. Can you do it in less than 30 seconds?

I'm not the person you asked the question of.

Anyway, the less butter you use, the quicker its temperature will go down. So it's nice with these that you can use a smaller quantity of butter and still have it stay melted. In the case of seafood, maybe it's not necessary, but there is a nice element of ambiance. Also, people do gorge of crab for an hour or more. Have you never heard of a crab feast?

Mostly I got the devices for bagna cauda, which I serve as a banquet style appetizer, so it really does need to stay warm for a long time.

I see people with griddles buy them. you just put them on the griddle or next to it. they're washer safe so it's not much more hassle than any other pan. if I were to want to butter a bunch of buns I'd just put a small hotel pan near my griddle and use a brush, but I wouldn't really mind the butter wheel. I have enough storage space built into the griddle for random unitaskers. I used to work at a restaurant and used one every day and their main purpose is speed. you just use the piece of bread to spin the wheel around a couple of times and the wheel will get coated and then it will coat the bread the second time you roll it.
