So I'm about to start living on my own and I found this tiny apartment that has cheap rent. Thing is the kitchen isn't that big and so I thought I'd give these portable butane stoves a try. Anyone here use these things exclusively indoors? Is it good for a guy who's about to learn how to cook?

I have one and really like it. We actually have a glasstop electric range and often I just decide to use this.

If you really want to spend $10 per week cooking I'd invest in a electric hot plate instead

>> No.15034183

use a good induction stove, the duxtop 1/2 burners are really nice
t. live in apartment with shitty electric stove/oven, got induction and 0 regrets

are induction stoves retard-proof?

>> No.15034209

>>15034208
yes, they turn off after 15-20 seconds if there's no compatible object on them
just make sure a magnet sticks to your pan/pot and it'll work on induction

Just get an induction cook top. They're not very expensive and are pretty reliable. The butane stove will get really fucking old, really fucking quick. Yeah, it sucks to forgo an open flame, but sometimes we have ti make sacrifices

You can cook anything on an electric frying pan. Picture related, better pizza than all of /ck/ is capable of.

Buy a good sized seperate gas bottle and a multi ring gas burner. I can boil 3 gallons of water from cold in 10 minutes with mine. Don't settle for less. It's extremely economical, you won't go back to anything else after you try it. It makes cooking so much quicker and easier.

Anon these guys are saying to get induction but

Anon, I started a thread about these burners last night. They're incredible. I just got one and am using it instead of my gas range half the time.

An induction one might compete but I think you'd have to spend a lot more to match the heat output. And this tiny butane thing you can take camping, on picnics, backyard, etc etc

I don't know what you looked up but I:
Cook the pepperoni first.
Spread dough in hot pan, sauce, top, grate cheese and spread.
Cover with lid and wait for chees to melt. You will need probably 10 minutes for dough.
Remove from pan to paper towel.
Cut in slices.
Fry slices upside down. Makes it much easier to properly cook as slices.

The biggest problem with butane hobs is the fuel.
The fuel cans are small. You will be replacing the can about every hour the burner is on. Some burners, you might get 2 hours, but don't count on it.

If a butane can is $2 and lasts an hour (they're usually a bit more expensive), or an electric hotplate costs 25 cents an hour to run, the cost savings will rapidly benefit you running electric or induction. There ARE exceptions, but how often are you really making crepes suzette tableside in your tiny cheap apartment, where a plug-in is impractical?

Anyway, 8x to 16x cooking fuel cost savings is a lot if cheap rent appeals to you, so if you do get one of these butane gizmos, get something else too.

They're great when you need something with high heat and your electric range can't get that hot.

I would make sure you get a carbon monoxide detector in your kitchen
