I wanted a steak. Tbone. But dont have the equipment. No grill. No cast iron skillet. What do? I really want to make a good one but just dont know how

>> No.15030430

>>15030420
You don't need a cast iron skillet. Just use whatever pan you have. If you don't even have a pan, then I don't know how you expect to cook anything at all.

Any tips for getting a great sear without overcooking the inside? I've been trying really hard and I always struggle :(

Sorry got side tracked. To get a good sear, put your burner on high, let the steak get to about room temperature, and slap that fucker down, 5-6 minutes a side depending on what level of doneness you want. Salt and pepper always on the meat before you put it on the pan.

This is 1000x better than salt and pepper anyways

Isn't T-bone just literally sirloin and filet mignon that are still together with a bit of fat and bone?

Do you have an oven? Low temp over long time and have a thermometer in it and get it out at the desired temp also season with salt and pepper or if you feel like it whatever seasoning and/or marinade you feel like

It really is a great salt and pepper replacement. Stuff is good on just about anything

>> No.15035561

>>15032517
I've been told restaurants do this alot. They will sear it and then toss it in the oven. Seems legit, but I'm not XPd in doing it and would personally be afraid of over cooking it.

Don't be, that's how you learn and just by taking the help of a meat thermometer I would say the risk of messing it up is slim to none I mean the only thing I can think of really is if you'd like it rare and didn't account for the residual heat from when taking it out and putting it on the counter which can cook it a bit more but really destroying it seems very unlikely just don't put the oven at a high temperature, go low and slow with a thermometer and there's not much that can go wrong and let's say something doesn't go as planned or as you wanted then you've learned and can apply that knowledge your next attempt
