For sure. They are better, and that intact edging stay nicely together just a bit more firmly bite by bite. They are consistently perfect. The flat saltines disentregrate into some pieces but the rest powdery mush, which isn't to say that's entirely bad or anything. And, they're closely ranked, but oyster crackers come out on top.
I love oyster crackers in any creamy soups, potato based chowders, and seafood soups.
I absolutely instead prefer a quick crush of saltines in chili con carne, where the mush thickens it better (if not thick enough for me). Mush can also tone down a heavy hand in the spice level.
I probably don't have crackers at all with other soups, preferring instead some nice complementary roll and butter or another side, like a grilled cheese or a baked potato, or even a garlic knot.
