I have a few things to say, dumb frog poster, which I intend to do. First of all, I’d like to clarify a few things for the anon(s) who kept asking why it took me so long to try a new drive through that wasn’t on my regular route, who’s menu, app, and drive through protocol I was not familiar with. The one location anywhere near me is next to the fancy liquor store, so making the trip necessitated making a liquor run, and that’s kind of a big decision. These are the whiskies I settled upon, along with my dumb frog vodka.

Here's the beer. I saw someone post this AleSmith/Ommegang crossover in a beer thread last week and lamented never having seen it - and then I saw it, and bought 4 cans. Speedway Stout is one of my favorites, and though I haven't had an Ommegang in years and don't usually care for collaborations, I felt as though I had to try it. Turned out it's also Pliny season, so I picked up a couple bottles of the Elder, along with a fresh Mellow Corn, for good measure.

It’s a Del Taco burger, silly, and the “sad” thing is the nachos; the burger is “raw”, which this certainly is not. I do have to say upfront: I’d be verging on livid had I not been day drinking until the sun went down. They burned me. I ordered 9 items, and only got 7 – and I definitely ordered two scoops of guac on my burger because it seemed like the best place to put it.

Here's the order. I'm fairly certain the two things they left out (aside from my two scoops) were the value taco and the habanero crispy chicken taco - which means I have to go back, because a 79 cent drive through taco is something to try before you die.

I try to stay comfy, and usually do a decent job, but I’ll admit that I do get a little irked when they leave out $2 worth of my order (even after I’d just spent over $200 on whiskey). To make matters worse, when I got to the window, they told me to pull up to the parking lot, as they made my order 3 hours earlier, but will be, “happy to make it again”. I was so flummoxed that I completely forgot to request any hot sauce, let alone check my bag before driving off. By some fluke, they managed to throw in half a dozen del scorchos, which is what I was going to ask for, but was still underwhelming based on the partial order I received. I did a taste test with Fire, and the del scorcho was definitely better. For their “medium” sauce, it was actually hotter than Fire, and just generally more flavorful. All in all, I’d say Del Taco is a lot more like an actual Mexican restaurant, albeit fast food, while Taco Bell doesn’t even count as Tex Mex, but is just it’s own (formerly) special thing.

I’m on the fence about this one. The chips are definitely better, and the cheese they use has some actual flavor, but doesn’t spread as well (because it’s not processed cheese sauce, though that’s kind of the appeal of Taco Bell nachos), and the green sauce is better than any individual ingredient Taco Bell has ever offered. The problem is the beans, which taste like they came right out of a can. Overall it's a much tastier, higher quality product, but I think I might still prefer the Triple Layer (add onions and red sauce). It's sad to say, but those refried beans make Taco Bell look good.

At $2.89 for three bites, the fish taco was easily the most expensive item I purchased tonight (which honestly says something about the value, regardless of the size), and it was easily the most surprising. It was actually good. Fish, at a fast-food joint! The next two most expensive things were the burger and fries (well, I got the fries for a dollar with an online deal (which there are a lot of)), and I don’t think I’ll be ordering those again. The burger was like a McDonald’s kids’ burger, but for $2, and the fries were basically undercooked, crinkle cut oven fries. I know they didn’t cook them in the oven, but crinkle cut fries are always shitty oven fries in my opinion. I’ll definitely be picking up a fish taco on repeat visits – at least until it forces me to call out of work.

Yeah, somehow I ended up with a bunch of chicken things, and the only thing with beef (other than the burger) they forgot. It was also definitely a sub-par fulfillment, which can happen anywhere, so I'll give it another shot and try different things. The portions are definitely smaller than Taco Bell, for the most part, but the sheer number of dollar items makes me want to find my order.
>otherwise it's just Subway vegan patty, maybe a meatball sub
Gross, I haven't eaten at Subway in over a decade and have no desire to give them another chance. And as much as I have a soft spot for Weezer, when it comes to 90's bands and Tex-Mex, nothing beats Dexter Holland's Gringo Bandito.

You have to budget somewhere, and if you're spending over $5 on fast food you might as well just go to a bar and buy a couple apps and get a beer. Those bottles of whiskey (along with the couple dozen other ones) will probably last me 3-4 years. You can't spend money frivolously if you don't put at least a little thought into what you're spending money on.
>>14962727
They remade my order - which is why it was half-assed. They have an option on the app to have the food made "now" so it's ready to pick up, or have them make it when you check in at the drive thru, and I chose the latter. I wish they had that option at Taco Bell, since I usually order when I'm only a few minutes away.

In a way, you're kind of fortunate, anon. Every store near me has something like a dozen and a half gift boxes (*literally everywhere*) as soon as it starts feeling like Fall, and they just know I'm a sucker for a free glass. I haven't tried the Noel yet, but the glass is nice, and almost resembles a Christmas ornament. I've never owned a Delirium glass, but the Dutch-American anon who turned his house into a hipster bistro just posted one, and this is a little different (like, a little more like a Christmas ornament). I did a GrubHub order for Del Taco tonight. Drove three miles for $4.77 to deliver a dozen tacos.

ZERO TIP

Cheap bastards

I've never worked delivery, and honestly hate you guys. Not you personally, but the people you work for, especially when half the orders we get these days are take-out. I had a paper route for awhile towards the end of the GwB era, when gas prices were skyrocketing, which was stupid and below my pay level. It was a comfy night owl gig (2:30-6 am), but I had ~200 deliveries, and at the end of the month I got maybe 6 (six) tips; a couple fives, a couple tens, a twenty, and a Benjamin. I find a particular comfort in routine, however unhealthy I know it might be, so can't imagine doing something like GrubHub.

It's my last packet, but I'll try it next. I was pretty burnt out tonight so went pretty vanilla with everything, along with my usual burger; but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

My faggotry has no bounds, up until the point of literally sucking dick. I’d prefer to exude the low key drug dealer pazzaz, but every time I’ve been put in a position to sell the "hard stuff" I only made enough money to make up for the amount I consumed. And I was typically doing a bi-weekly robotrips “someone” funded by shoving the bottles down their pants at that time on top of the coke, so just fuck my liver if that’s how you roll. I got 2 Beef Burritos and 2 Bean and Cheese Burritos, no modifications other than grilled, with a side of just-fuck-my-shit-up worth of fire sauce. I went pretty vanilla, but unless you want to spend half a Benji on a bellyful, that’s just how you roll the Bell in late 2020.

Haha, you're right. I've combined too many liquors to post anything coherent at this point.

Del Taco is fucking based. I spent six months in Denver for work and ate it like three times a week.

OP what part of socal do you live in

>> No.14975239

A few questions OP...all in good humour. I quite like your posts to be honest.

Just how fat are you?

For somebody that seems to care a lot about what he consumes and claims to have a palate discerning enough to judge different single malts etc. how are you content with eating such low-quality food day in, day out?

Where does your tendency to surround yourself with your earthly belongings in this way stem from? Were you poor and lacking in possessions as a child? is it a safety blanket.

To what extent do you think your quest for high-end of obscure alcoholic drinks stems out of your consumerism over an earnest appreciation for the drinks themselves?
