Absolutely disgusting. I didn't know what one was and so I got that instead of a normal one one time. Ended up with a massive headache and was sick for two days. Who the fuck thought melted cheese sauce and french fries belonged in a burrito?

I don't even live in CA, and I wouldn't want to but when I visited San Diego I made sure to eat a few authentic Cali burritos and they're absolutely bomb. It really made me wish there were places serving stuff like it in Florida but our texmex stops at Texas type stuff. There's one shop here owned by a former Californian that sells a Cali style but it just isn't the same, maybe it's the fact that you can't eat it while looking at the Pacific.

Just buy some tortillas, get some eggs and chorizo, heat the chorizo up ina pan till it’s crispy, add egg and scramble, add to tortillas.
Best breakfast tacos out there. I find breakfast tacos better since you can get a variation at a restaurant instead of just one giant burrito.

I make them with little to no sour cream. Usually use tater tots and leave them extra long in the oven. Always make guac with lots of ingredients. If you can't get 14 inch tortillas from a Mexican mart, you are missing out. Make sure and load them up with lots of good hot sauce. Don't eat anything the day before or the day of making them; one burrito is several days worth of sustenance.

>> No.14928233

decent take, but sour cream and guac is optional unironically.

Staples are carne asada, fries, cheese, and pico de gallo.

They're great only if from SD, though some there are varied. Vallarta's is an engorged drunken mess (perfect drunk burrito), worst shop had it wet with some nasty brown sauce (might've been Rigoberto's), personal favorite is Lolita's and Nico's.

CA burritos from outside SD just try way too hard and end up being overpriced with too much going on, underwhelming in seasoning/preparation, or both. SD and LA mexican food tastes pretty different too, SD is more focused on northern-style seasoning and prep whereas LA is understandably more varied.
