I made Bouef Bourguignon a few weeks ago and the recipes are pretty similar, that's why I feel confident enough to do it.

If the meat is good quality you should be fine, braising meat is pretty straight forward.
Don't make the sauce too thin though.

Sage advice.
Although not to be taken too strictly... I never made brisket before I served it for a party. Mainly because I can't eat 14 pounds of meat at once.
