I've been really examining my ethical choices lately, and I just can't seem to justify purchasing animal flesh/foods (mind you, I'm not trying to be a crazy vegan obsessed with purity, I just don't want to contribute to harming animals). Anyway I've been trying to eat vegan, but it just fucking sucks. All the food is pretty shit, just carbs and carbs and plant oils and I get so fucking hungry, and get paranoid about b12, and eventually I'm like obsessed with animal fat. I didn't eat pork for several years for ethical reasons, but now when I cave I buy pork, crackling, bacon, just the real fatty shit. Its like ny body is just craving the most calorically dense filthiest fucking shit

Buy overpriced pasture raised meat, I'm sure there's a lot of bullshit in that sector but if you dug into it you might be able to find something you're more comfortable with. I only care about taste but in researching that I've found a lot of pricier speciality meats that are sold as more humane. You could also hunt and fish yourself.

I run a hog farm, open pen gestation, it's factory but they're not locked inside cages. Pic related. The pigs seem content with it for all 2-4 months they get to be alive.

I've been thinking about learning how to butcher them, but I have no where to let them hang that's refrigerated. A lot of meat goes to waste because of broken legs and stuff, they end up being euthanized.

why. I cannot think of a reason. except by giving them arbitrary human agency. Does a pig seek freedom? if you give it all that it desires, does it care if its penned? Will it have the cognitive ability to philosophy about why it would want freedom or care that it is being profited from? Chattel slave runaways were a constant issue in the antebellum United States. People were not particularly content to be slaves, even if plantation owners argue thus forth. Meanwhile, a group of cows will more or less stay in the same field, munching grass forever. They don't even recognize it when they're on the truck for slaughter.
