It wasn't as an infant, but my ability to eat peppers was permanently robbed from me back in high school. A guy's science fair project hinged on feeding me and other classmates a bunch of peppers, and then using various beverages to try and quench the heat. This included water, milk, fruit juices, and several very acidic drinks such as lemon juice, and even nonalcoholic Blood Mary's.

Now, I want you to imagine the experience of eating an entire jalapeno pepper and following it with a chug of orange juice. Or a goddamned ghost pepper, and then trying to snuff it out with lemonade with no additional sugar added.

I can't even stand the SMELL of peppers anymore. I was a permanently broken, and I start heaving if I catch even a whiff of it in my food.

how did you prepare them? grits are pretty good with butter. I like to use some toasted bread, scrambled eggs, and grits to make a sandwich. I prefer my eggs a little more cooked than most people so the texture doesn't clash with the grits. you should try it.

My mom used to make me spinach and scrambled eggs then I was a toddler and I loved that shit. Now I really inly eat spinach in dishes where its hidden under a bunch of other shit.

Same used to go for green beans, although I made them myself now and love them again.

Think I still hate from when I was younger is my moms potato salad and carrot cake. Although I eat the potato salad every now and then since it made my mom sad when i told her I didn't like it.

I dont even like beets whole or roasted but I fucking love borscht. The trick is to not cut the beets into chunks, but to use a cheese grater and turn it into shreds. Makes a huge mess but you'll be in flavortown.

I try everything I hate once in a while, just to see.

I used to hate red meat - my dad would only make it charred and well done. Still not big on blackened meat, but I'm good with blue rare to a properly executed well done, depending on context.

Liver, spinach, beets, blue cheese... it's all back on the menu - mostly because I've learned how to make it taste good. Mushrooms still have to be raw or crispy, but I like oysters... I don't understand that.
