Because it's a sweet and unique (literally launched the entire 'cola' class of flavors) tasting beverage with an extremely distinctive logo and bottle shape so you grow to strongly associate the flavor with the product. All the people citing billions of dollars in RND are wrong, that's McDonalds. Coca Cola's recipe comes from the early 1900s after they removed the cocaine (which is one trick as to why the Coca Cola company is so successful nowadays - McDs has to spend billions to keep their product's core competitive edge, Coca Cola co. was handed their golden goose for peanuts).

I used to thought ut was the sugar (beaner here), but I switched to coke without sugar (or zero in other countries) and, after I got used to the aftertaste of the sweeteners, I'm already addicted to it. So I dunno but coke is literally the perfect soft drink.
