I don't think any of you understand what a filter is. All those beers are extremely popular and entry level.

Most people can't handle them
i.e. a FILTER

Geuze and especially mono blend lambics are absolute filters. Plebs don't even know what hit them, but their surprised reaction says it all.

What are you even talking about? Stouts are one of the most popular styles, and even people who don't usually like beer like stouts. They're the opposite of a filter.

The ultimate pleb filter.
Only a honest, humble and accomplished man can enjoy a good carapils.

Eh only if cold, and drunk for uni nostalgia. Better than all the other budget pils though.

I admit I got filtered. They said I'd have to wait three months before drinking and I was too lazy for that.

Oh yeah, most people can't handle uhhhh fucking GUINNESS
>>14842450
nah IMO most non-beer drinkers like them, probably because they taste unlike most beers
I hate 'em, can't handle the sourness

>> No.14843165

>>14842626
A lot of people won't drink Guinness, and their claims of density and bitterness are just straight BS. It's dark red, but it's completely clear once the beergas has cascaded out. It's got a bit of char to it, but it's sweet like the crust on a creme brulee, rather than acrid and bitter like blackened veggies. What can I say? Most people drink light lagers.

I get the sour thing too. A lot of brewers, especially newer brewers trying to see how far they can take it, are crushing the flavour of the beer with lactic acid, or letting acetobacter turn it into hopped malt vinegar, or not blending back the brettanomyces and leaving the beer with a decidedly infected flavour. Even some of the old-world sours can overdo it, but they tend to blend the over-infected beers back into something drinkable.

>> No.14843179

>>14842469
Not even close. The last beer i recommend to people trying to get into the drink is stout. People generally don't care for the roastiness and bitterness. It's like coffee, but they can't add their cream and sugar to it so they have to face big flavor for the first time

It peaks at 2yo imo. Still one of the best trappistes.

>> No.14843207

Overrated style. I'd honestly take a good lager over any trappist 9/10 times

>> No.14843223

For people just getting into beer, West Coast, hop forward IPAs are probably the biggest filter. So many people go, "eww, I don't like beer with hops!", even though it's one of the main ingredients in all beer, and the style is just highlighting those flavors. After that, when anon is finally starting to get a feel for the beer landscape, give them a sour and everything they thought they understood about beer just goes right out the window.
>>14843179
Nah, stouts are just about the most normie beer in existence, unless you exclusively drink shitty macro-lagers (but you can't really say you even drink beer at that point).

>> No.14843243

>>14843223
They absolutely aren't. The only normie stout out their is Guinness and their most popular version is basically creamy water. Extra stout goes untouched on shelves since people don't actually like stout that much. I can't think of any other popular one. Pils is the most popular style in the world I believe. Followed by some other lager I'm sure and then maybe ipa. I've worked at liquor stores. Stout is definitely not flying off shelves

are you perhaps retarded? If you want to compare hops to something compare them to spices.
>>14842450
yea oude gueze filters the plebs. Heavily peated whisky does as well, so does coriander, rieslings with lots of parafin notes does the job.

That's like saying the noodles are the main ingredient in a bowl of ramen, and the broth is just water and seasoning.
