>catch fish
>cook it
>smoke it beyond recognition until it's a dried out mess
>let mold grow on it to ferment it and dry it out even harder
>repeat until it's a petrified block of moldy fermented wood
>scrape bits off with a what can be best described as a wood planer
>fucking eat it

What the fuck is wrong with Japanese cuisine?

>Get milk
>Decide to store it in the stomach of a cow, and have it mixed with the stomach acid
>"Oh what's this? It looks like the milk is now splitting, better scoop that shit out"
>keep split milk and put in a cave for months
>sometimes age it even longer until there is literal mold all around it
>fucking eat it

What the fuck is wrong with people who like cheese?

Are the cows alive? How do they remove it from the stomach?

No. People used to use stomachs to carry liquid, cheese was probably discovered accidentally when some of the rennet on the inside surface curdled some stored milk. Most rennet is now produced by genetically engineered bacteria but traditional rennet, gathered by scraping the inside of a cow's removed stomach, is still available and generally used in artisanal cheeses only.

What's wrong, don't like beer and cheese? You have an immature palate. Miso soup without bonito and dashi might as well be dishwater soup.
