So just write it off as bad science and learn from it and move on with your life. Vegan food CAN be boring, so when you get a dedicated vegan restaurant, there's a good chance that you're paying for the creative attempt and the price of the employees to make the food for you and shit.

Overpriced? Almost always. Good? Sometimes. Worth it? Depends on if you're there to eat or be social.

If you researched a little deeper you'd see that the parents were severely restricting the kid's calories. Plenty of children grow up not eating animal products and are healthier for it. But you wouldn't want to research deeper because you're beliefs may have some pressure applied to them.
