I'm 28, and I never noticed that this was ever the norm. Wings at bars and restaurants seem to have been separated for a long time. I do occasionally see barbecue places, fried chicken and other specialty meat joints specify "whole wings".

they dont sell them seperated here, but i do enjoy the flats a bit more, but it's very close

>> No.14822759

Why not both.

>> No.14822784

I like both. The drums have a bit more meat on them, the flats skin gets more crispy. If I had to choose just one, flats, the crispy texture is just too good. Very easy to just pull the small bone out and munch away, hassle-free.

That’s why I have this EPIC beard, haha I just gotta be careful that I don’t get any of this GHOST PEPPER SOYCE in my beard cuz it’ll mess with my MANLY beard OILS that I rub in. Boneless wings are practically CHIKY NUGGIES!! Haha get it??! Like those epic style baby yoda memes I’ve been seeing everywhere on reddit!!

>> No.14823798

>>14823731
Boneless wings are okay, but are pretty much chicken nuggets. It feels right gnawing a bit on some bone with each bite, and the extra fatty crispy skin bits are nice. As a man with a beard, it can be annoying due to the sauce, especially if it's a ghost pepper sauce because it hits you later when you're not expecting it. A quick scrub in the bath at home and some re-application of beard oils fixes that right up, though.

>> No.14823824

Flats all the way. Grab them by the bone ends on one side, put whole wing in mouth and bite right against your fingers, then pull both bones out clean. Whole wing done in one bite with minimal mess.

Flats, much better skin to meat ratio. Meat has better texture and less tendons/cartilage. You can get all the meat in one bite too if you split the joint and pull one of the bones out, gives you a nice clean handle.

I would like to prefer boneless "wings" but they don't have skin. The defining characteristic of wings (aside from the sauce) is that they have crisp skin, not breading/batter. Sure breaded wings are good too but they aren't really true Buffalo wings and nothing can replicate crispy chicken skin.

Say what you will about b*neless wings, but if any place ever offers
>x amount of wings-or-boneless-wings for x dollars
and you're hungry, then value-for-money, the meat chunks are superior. Those almost-cubic chicken nuggets (roughly the size of two stacked nugs) have way more meat, way more mass per piece in general, and if you don't feel like getting your hands dirty for some reason you can use a fork. (which also lets you completely submerge them in sauce in one dip)
Just don't order them when "going out for wings" with guys, or you will look like a fag, because you're just eating big saucy nuggets.

Both are good for different reasons. Flats are the best to pull out the meat and dip into whatever sauce. Drums are better for just eating, especially the little bits at the top that are extra crunchy and great. Also, you don't have to worry nearly as much about getting a piece of feather in your mouth while eating drums.
