I don't understand. if i want to make fried rice do i have to cook it some other way before frying it with my other ingredients? or do i just get the dry rice out of the bag and fry it? i literally cant find a direct answer to this question anywhere

how do you guys usually cook your rice? is a rice cooker worth buying?

>> No.14806513

The god tier way to do it is to cook your rice in water, soy sauce, MSG, and chicken fat the day before. That's what I do. That way you don't have to try and haphazardly add a ton of ingredients when breaking up the day old rice, it's already infused with flava

2 volumes of rice in 3 volumes of water, salt, and let cook in a sauce pan with the lid o until all the water has been absoberd by the rice. It usually takes arount 10 minutes.

Use long grain rice. Short grain is sticky for sushi.

>>14806338
I mean, the other way to do exactly the same thing is to cook your rice normally, then take the lid off the cooker, and leave it on warm for like five minutes. This dried out the rice and you don't need a fucking time machine any time you're hungry. USE YOUR GODDAMN HEAD YOU IDIOTS, WE LIVE IN THE FUCKING FUTURE YOU HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY TO SUBVERT TRADITION

>it usually takes around 10 minutes
Cooklet that uses minute rice detected
Most regular rice will take 30 minutes, also look up how much water to use, different varieties of rice require different quantities of water

day-old white rice
do everything separate. do the eggs separate and set them aside. do the meat separate, set those aside
this is the whole thing
then you toss them once the soy sauce and oil has turned the rice a good color

you can do this perfectly in a cast iron pan as long as you make sure the big stuff is cooked and set aside first. it is a joke to do. add them back in for the final tossing and you have done it!

i was frustrated because most fried rice recipes and videos just assume you know what to do with the rice beforehand. i just wanted to clear it up with a direct question, which is surprisingly hard to do with a search engine

thanks

I know you’re a little slow, and probably a little underage, but let me tell ya something about this whole internet thing

Sure, you can’t trust anyone, that’s a given. But here’s the thing, what motivates you to lie? The typical answer is self-gain, people lie to improve their own lives in whatever meaningless way they see fit. Okay, cool. What does this mean for the internet? Well, on a website like reddit or other social media platforms, this means lying can get you attention. Attention is much desired online, and having more of it makes you look and feel special. But what about on 4chan? It’s anonymous, so surely nobody can benefit from lying? This is true, for the most part, except for the fact that trolling was born. Trolling is when you lie to people online, or otherwise harass them, for the luls. Now, typically this means convincing people to break expensive things with realistic fake ads or lying to a news company and tricking them into broadcasting curse words and racial epithets. Does this apply here? Would any anon have anything to gain by telling me to incorrectly boiling my rice? Would 10-15 different anons stand together to lie about something stupid as fuck as boiling rice? Is there really any risk listening to a bunch of anons from different countries telling me to do the exact same thing? Obviously not, because there’s no luls to gain here and there’s no self-benefit about lying about stupid ass rice.

This has been my explanation of human psychology and the internet, go fuck yourself nigger

I cook it on the range. 1 cup long grain brown rice, 2 cups water, heat to boil then cover, turn down to simmer and leave it for 50 minutes. Makes enough for four meals. I've never used a rice cooker so I can't comment on that.

>> No.14807024

>>14806972
It is a little odd, the result is better if you cook the rice and let it cool before frying. Something about starch crystals. It's fine to use rice you've just cooked but it will be a little mushy.

>> No.14807029

>>14806972
the day old rice is not as sticky when cold, so...it doesn't glue up on the bottom of the pan, but rather does use the oil to fry instead. This is a consideration for when you want to make it without a nonstick pan, really.

Protip, you can use the steam in bag jasmine or brown rice. I do. It's cooked, then frozen in a way that has separate grains. Magic.

Then you halfassed your Googling. Practically every recipe says to use rice cooked the day before and kept in the fridge.
